aftermarket amp going into protection mode

I have 2 American bass subwoofers hooked up to kicker cxa1800.1 and I'm using technicpnp harness. when I turn up the volume so it's loud the speakers cut out and go into protection mode and beat every couple seconds. I multimeter the battery and it was 12.75 and then I started the car and it was 14.75. I don't get why it's doing this the old amp I was using was a Kenwood KAC-9106D and I had no issues. I dont think my battery or alternator are bad is it the radio?

Sounds like you're either asking too much from the amp, or the impedance load is too high. Either way, the amp doesn't like it and it's shutting down momentarily as a protection mechanism.

What impedance are the woofers? How many coils? How are they wired to the amplifier?

I dont think im asking to much from the amp this is a bigger amp then the old one so i should have no issues. 2ohms 1,000 watts x1 and the amp is 1,800x1 for 2ohm mono

If it's going into protection you are, or there's something wrong with the amp itself, possibly wiring. Your voltage appears ok, but a good, solid ground the same guage as your positive cable is needed.

The point here is that it's unlikely to be the radio or harness, unless potentially the line in voltage going to the amplifier is too high and that's causing it to go into protection...possible, but not likely.

How do you have the speakers wired? The amp is 2 ohm stable and if you have 2 4 ohm dvc woofers in parallel it would be a 1ohm load, too low for the amp. You didn't say what model subs you are running so I am only guessing.

What models are your subs? What voice coils are they?
