CDV modified

If anyone has any doubts, I say just do it...best mod EVER!

Just make sure that if you're doing it yourself that you have a friend pumping your clutch to help bleed the clutch/break fluid. Doing it alone is next to impossible. One person under the car, the other in the car pumping the clutch.

Also, MAKE SURE YOU PUMP THE CLUTCH "ALL" THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM and NOT "almost all the way" as this little piece of mis-information has caused me and my friend an almost extra 2 hours.

Total install shouldn't take more than 20 mins.

I wana do this, but if I need some well service done and it is
found out wouldn't my warranty just be totally done with clutch.

Pretty easy to replace with stock CDV?

The exterior of the "modified CDV" part is identical to the "stock CDV". The only difference between the two is... the restrictor is popped out of the modified. The only way a dealership would be able to know if you have a modified v stock is if they were to physically remove it and confirm that the restrictor doesn't exist.

You feel the difference in 1st to 2nd shifts the most...especially important when you're racing...you're not inducing any unnecessary delays...

It also smoother on take offs, better in stop-and-go traffic
Overall it's more direct connection (feeling) to clutch

So what's BMW's reason for having it the way it is, if it's all positives to getting the modified one? There must be some reason, or downsides to the non-stock route?

I think the delay in the engagement of the clutch smooths out the clumsy actions of a rookie manual driver. One of those luxury things where you trade in performance for comfort.

I think the jury is still out, unless there's an expert here, but I hear you may see less wear and tear on your clutch with the restriction removed. So, modifying may increase life of this wear component.

Really? I've been driving stick for 20 years, so it sounds like I can do without the stock one. Hmmm... car should be here in a day, so I guess I'll see for myself! Can't wait!

The difference of a modified and stock CDV is instantaneous. This is usually the first mod someone gets with any E9X or 1'er MT. They work.

Hi Adam, is the one you sell also look like the stock one from the outside? From the pic on the site it looks chrome, and I thought they were a black color?

I read somewhere (I can't recall who was selling it) that theirs looks like stock from the outside, and unless the dealer pulls the valve and looks inside it, there's no way to tell from the outside that it's not a stock valve.

yes sir,

It looks exactly like stock on the outside. Cannot even tell its there. There is absolutely no way to tell unless the dealer opens it up. Even if they do, they cannot automatically void warranty. Remember, warranty is voided on a part if the can prove 100% that is the cause of the problem. Its a very easy, great mod that just helps the car in general.

Thanks, I should have been a bit clearer also... besides looking like the stock one, is yours in fact the stock one with the insides punched out?
