Cobb/chargepipe/intercooler.. is it worth it alone?

Hey guys,
Long story short I’ve got the wrong car. It’s an 2011 335i xdrive 6mt.
Love it, it’s just slow.

Starting to think mods. What I can do is..
Cobb tune
Chargepipe
Intercooler
Other than that, I cannot do the downpipe or even a diverter valve because both of those require dropping the subframe. Just not interested in going through that so... my question is. Those three mods, are they worth it for the cars sake to get a little extra power, probably just stick with a stage 1 tune since I’m afraid to mess up the oem catted downpipe. (Right?)

Don't know how fast you intend on going, but this should be sufficient for any daily driver.

Yep ran my car with equivalent mods and MHD stage 1+ for a long time. It was a nice boost over stock, made the car more enjoyable to drive. It's worth it if you want more power.
Go MHD rather than the Cobb tune. Cobb stopped development a long time ago but MHD is still actively improving both their app and the tunes.

+1 on the mhd 1+. Run it on my e90 xdrive with a mishimoto intercooler and Cobb charge pipe and it runs great. Very good power over stock

Good to hear, any harm done to xdrive with the added power..? I'd imagine the awd system should be able to hold its own until about 400 horse? It's been in the back of my mind it could damage the awd system.

Mhd tune and you can do downpipe without dropping subframe
Would love to know how. General consensus for downpipe install for xdrive is dropping the subframe a few inches to get the large oem one out while the new one is much smaller and should fit.
However I feel as if a catted downpipe would be a better choice for me to pass emissions here in MA. I'm assuming an aftermarket catted dp is just as large. Any experience/insight you could share as far as install goes and catted/vs catless?

I hear people running 500's and 600's with it. I just wouldn't launch the car at that point. But yeah with stage 1+ and 2 you can launch the awd all day, no issues for me yet. Plus the awd grip is awesome

Cobb is no longer supporting the N55. You will be better off with MHD.

I would look into ethanol near you as well and run E30.

I would switch the Cobb with a Jb4 and get VRSF or AA intercooler + charge pipe.

I also have a 2011 335i x-drive 6spd and also felt it’s a little lacking in power. The first thing I did was a MHD stage 1 tune, and with just that I took it to the track and ran a 13.4@103mph. It still just wasn’t quick enough for my liking so I bit the bullet a few weeks back and ordered the VRSF full bolt-on setup (catless downpipe, 7” HD intercooler, chargepipe, and lower intercooler hard pipe).

The HD intercooler was highly recommended by everyone I’ve seen who has it, and it actually DROPS intake air temperatures through longer runs which is really impressive.

The parts except the intercooler came in this week as it was on backorder and I literally just got finished installing the downpipe about an hour ago. The subframe does need to be lowered slightly, but it’s really not an issue. I only needed to lower it by less than half an inch so I just slowly loosened the 3 subframe mounting bolts on the pass side until I had enough clearance, and the subframe stays bolted in, just loosely. Not a big deal at all.

I haven’t had a chance to drive it yet as I still need to finish putting the splash shields and some of the upper engine parts back together but I fired it up to make sure there were no exhaust leaks and I can say it sounds great at idle and low rpm revving. Just a little louder than stock but way nicer tone and with the MHD you get the awesome exhaust burble option.

Oh, and our x-drive cars have a second set of cats in the mid pipes. Those aren’t just resonators. I’ve had full catless cars before and they stink bad. From my quick startup I can say that it smelled completely normal, probably thanks to the extra cats we have.
