V3/29.2/DME81 = diagnostic invisibility???

aside from the ease and simplicity of the V3's PnP feature, plus the added smoothness and stability of V3... perhaps the next biggest reason for me to upgrade to V3 is diagnostic invisibility.

i am surprised that no one else has asked this question already so here i go...

has anyone with progman 29.2+ and/or DME81 with V3 installed (and removed prior to any service) been flagged or identified as having modified or tampered with the ECU???

i know perhaps this is still a bit too early to tell since V3 has only recently been released, but this is probably something that a lot of people are interested in.

You probably wont find a lot of responses on this, because those that have 29.2, or the MSD81 ECU, and a V3 PROcede probably aren't due for service for at least another six months. However, we have done extensive research to make sure that the PROcede is diagnostically invisible, so there really isn't any cause for concern.

Hi Dustin, will there be new doomsday maps in the future? I recall shiv mentioned something about decreasing the gap between non-doomsday and doomsday maps soon. In other words, are you guys still working on better doomsday maps with more torque?

There will always be newer maps, with improvements. Once we have more post 29.2 cars in the field, we will work with customer feedback on how we move forward with the newer maps.

dustin,

while i completely agree that it may be a bit too early to tell if it is in fact invisible...

i respectfully disagree that there isnt any cause for concern. i know you have done extensive research to ensure that it is invisible but at this point you (and everyone else) really dont know for sure and no one will know until someone gets their car hooked up on BMW's diagnostic tool.

i dont mean to doubt or question your statements but i would just like to be 100% sure.

thanks for your responses though!

agree. Who know's exactly what type of black magic is in the software update. Reading what techs have to say, they are very confident that Vishnu is NOT smarter than their BMW engineers.

Well two things:

1) I recall shiv mentioned that he has access to the same tools BMW techs have
2) The V3 produces stock readouts. So if it produces stock readouts, then there will be nothing to trip any warranty codes.

Just my recollection of what has transpired, I could be wrong.

true....BUT

does Vishnu really know all the parameters that BMW is monitoring for piggyback detection?

if Dustin or Shiv said "yes", would you believe him?

I don't think I'll believe anyone untill someone goes in for service and leaves the dealer with powertrain warranty still intact. Not a knock on the Vishnu guys. (love the tech posts you guys make). Just speaking from a skeptic pov.

Isn't there a whole stream of data that gets sent out to BMW from the dealership, that the techs don't even get to see?

probably......they are probably even making fun of us in the US for being overweight given the data collected by their smart seats.

I totally agree with this statement. But you have to realize, even if someone does go in for a service appointment with MSD81 and comes out clean, that means nothing. There is an abundance of variables about why that person did not get caught. BMW could not have been looking then, BMW did find out but didn't bring it up because nothing has happened, etc, etc. I think you just have to accept the associate risks with tuning. You can never be fullproof.

your best bet would be stay stock if you worry about warranty....before this new progman 29.2+ and/or DME81, as far as I remember, there is at least one member got voided the warranty and one almost got voided. Anyway, with the new program and DME81, with a log or without a log, if the dealer wants to give you hard time, the always will find a way to get you.
