Normal oil temps

I'm just looking to see if my oil temps are normal. On normal driving occasions the temps is 2 lines from 250 degrees it never has reached 250 no matter if it's 70 or 95 degrees outside. Car is 07 335i with optional oil cooler. Thanks in advance!

Mine goes up to 255-260 when really getting on it, but usually stays 240-245.

Yeah mine is rarely on the 120c (250f) mark. It is usually one mark under middle, which is about 110c.

If I keep flooring it it eventually goes near the 120c (250f) mark.

In traffic it can sometimes hit 250 but usually goes down very quick

Your good. I had mine hit 250 on hard driving when going with friends having fun.

OC thermostat doesnt open until 240. If you want it to be lower check the sport waterpump option on MHD flash or go with the Burger check valve in the oil filter housing. It replaces the thermostat.

I've read those aren't a good idea, mainly because it takes much longer for the engine to come up to temp.

~238 Normal for this platform.

Over 250F you should look into an oil cooler upgrade, although some would argue you should consider one over 210F, that's a different discussion.

They are fine unless you live in a climate that often sees freezing temps and your commute is short where you don't get your oil up to operating temp (atleast 170F).

I posted a while back about my temps going over 250 while in some really shitty traffic in 90 degree weather but I was slightly low on coolant. Not much at all but I haven't overheated since, I have noticed though that my temps have gotten near 245 in traffic but once I start driving normal again it looks like it holds steady around 235.

From the reviews I've read about them it basically only makes your car take longer to heat up. The thermostat opens on its own at a certain temperature and ends up doing the exact same thing. A couple posts I've seen where guys tracked the car or drove it hard saw no difference in the overall oil temps while they were driving so it doesn't exactly sound like a useful mod

This, I took mine out as it just makes the oil take longer to warm up and it just goes to the same temperature anyway, so it should be maybe called a slow warmup valve. Maybe it flows a little better but it can't be much.
