Catless DP's no difference?

I just got catless downpipes put on and am on map 5 as usual, still pushing 18psi on 100 octane. I have VRSF intercooler, afe intake, custom exhaust (previous owner, I don't know what it is quad tips) upgraded compressor wheel Vargas turbos, Stock charge pipe has yet to explode!

My question is does it take a while to adapt to the pipes as all I noticed is the volume is up and I can hear the turbos spool up.
Please advise.
TANKS, Bryan

I don't know how many miles exactly but it will take a little bit of driving for the tune to be able to adapt to the down pipes. You should definitely notice a power increase after it adjusts though.

So wait, you have upgraded turbos and you're rolling around on the stock tune but running JB4? Also you're running 100 octane? Where are you getting that at? Is that the typical fuel you would use? Usually its 91, 93 or E85 for these cars. 100 octane sounds expensive.

I couldn't find any specific proof but I thought map 5 maxed out at 18psi on the JB4 and you would have to use map 6 or map 7 to go above 18psi. Because you are using 100 octane you most likely were hitting 18psi without the downpipes which means you wouldn't really notice too much difference.

I'd look at getting a better tune on the car if you really do have upgraded turbos and then setting it to another map so you can achieve more boost. I'd have expected this thread after you upgraded the turbos but not after installing downpipes.

The only thing upgraded is the impeller in the turbos, supposed to flow 20% better according to Vargas. I run the JB4 on Map 5 per the response from the guys at Burger Motorsport (I don't know what you mean by stock tune?) I had sent them my data logs and that's what they reccomended. I hit 15 psi on 93 octane, however this isn't my daily driver so I do fill up with 100 octane and it jumps to 18 psi. I just started putting race gas in and had not data logged it yet. I wasn't aware map 5 maxed out at 18 psi ? I'll have to look into the other maps as I honestly thought map 5 was the better map because it adjusted for everything. If you come across any info. That would put me at a higher boost please let me know, I appreciate it.
Thanks, Bryan

100 octane at Sunoco is a little less than $10 a gallon and I have yet to see e85 anywhere around where I live in NH.

Map 5 is just a "happy medium" tune. So there is always more potential with custom tuning. Also unless you physically dyno the car the HP gained may simply be too little to feel. There are also other benefits to downpipes, lower EGT, faster spool, less back pressure...

Map descriptions from BMS:

Maps as of v32_12+ firmware:

Map 0: Stock bypass.
Map 1: 13psi. Suggested for most racing applications.
Map 2: 14.5psi. Suggested for those with intake and other bolt on modifications with 93 RM2 or higher octane.
Map 3: Progressive WMI water injection mapping with failsafe.
Map 4: Stock map w/ CAN active. Allows full logging and in dash gauges on the stock mapping.
Map 5: Autotuning map. Boost ranges between 12-17psi based on your cars octane, conditions, and modifications. E85 compatible. If using E85 we suggest around 30% to start. Refer to the E85 FAQ for addl info. Resets to 93 octane level adaptions when selected and adjusts itself up or down from there.
Map 6: User defined map generally only used for diagnostics or troubleshooting.
Map 7: Race gas map. 18.5psi peak boost on the G5 ISO. Requires straight 100-104+ RM2 octane unleaded racing fuel. Never run leaded fuel. To use this map with E85 requires the E85 back end flash, inline booster fuel pump, and a 40%+ E85 mix, per E85 FAQ.
Map8: Valet low boost map. May trigger 30FF under boost code in cars not also equipped with the back end flash map.

Make sure u reset the adaption on jb4
New firmware moved it to 1 and 4
Before it was 1 and 7. Try both as I'm not sure what version you have. That should do the trick

Dumb question, how do I reset the adaption on the JB4 ? Through steering wheel controls or on the data log program?

I know that, it's to select dif. Maps, etc. Are you saying to just switch the JB4 to say map 0 then back to map 5 or 7 for it to adapt ?

i cant make a new post yet someone help please

so every time I go wot it either drops -3 on one cylinder, some or all please help! e92 FBO 66k miles! just got done putting it together, it's on mhd v7 stage 2 and v8 stage 2 on data logs. I know its the DME helping knock but whats causing it? when DME corrects its usually IAT, plugs, coils, too aggressive map or trash fuel. I know its not too aggressive map because come on its mhd not no custom map and it has brand new coils and plugs with less than 250miles on them and its not the fuel. i know my IAT's were hot but were the hot enough to pull timing and don't worry 7.5 inch will be here Friday!

No I'm saying to enter jb4 menu and reset cars fuel trims and adoptions so it can relearn the dp. Doesnt sound like you are very familiar with the device

If you're assuming that I don't tune my own car then you are correct.

Thanks for the advice

It's not even that. The JB4 is not a tune. Are you familiar with the steering wheel controls at all?

I am familiar with the diff maps and not so much on the menus, my brother is the one doing my data logs and sending them to Burger Moto, however, I have not had a chance to datalog with the down pipes yet. If you want to walk me through button by button to get to the precise menu to set it back to adaptive mode that would be great, I normally don't mess with the computer shit, just the mechanical. FYI on Burger motorsports website it states JB4 Tuners
Thanks...B
