Think I messed up. Long story but I put my stock DP's back on & took off my DP fix. Instead of disconnecting the + side of the battery I disconnected the ground. Now no power to anything. No ignition, lights, nada... Did I ruin the ECM? Thanks Bill

You are supposed to disconnect the ground not the positive when you work on your car. I have no idea what your ICU is but if you have no power you either popped a fuse or there is a chance you setoff the IBS somehow (you can disconnect to test if that is the issue

I took this off & still no power at all to anything... Any other ideas before I take my car somewhere that charges $110 an hour? Thank You! Bill

Do you have a volt meter, I would start testing for power at the battery and moving along from there, checking under the hood power point fuse box etc. Double check the ground you had off - double check your work on the ECU harness and the big fuse in there maybe.

Thank You Rob! I just left the IBS sensor off. I guess it's not a necessary item? I also checked the big fuse in the ECM & everything is back in the ECM the same as it was. I took off the hot & ground connections on the battery & put it on my charger. It's good. I'll get a volt meter tomorrow. Thanks again! Bill

The IBS is just another unnecessary piece of BMW bullshit

If you don't know already, there are several fuses built into the absurdly expensive and overcomplicated red plastic cover (#3 in link below - called "power distribution box with fuse") on top of the battery. The power to most of the ECUs (cannot say for sure about the DME) does not come from the largest cable coming out of the red plastic cover. It comes from the wires that plug into that red plastic cover

Get that voltmeter and check for voltage at each of the positions where wires plug into that stupid plastic piece of shit.

I've had one of those fuses let go, which rendered the vehicle inoperative. There is no way to visually inspect those fuses, you must use a meter to check. Of course, it is a bitch and a half getting that poorly designed thing off the battery for replacement (that might depend on the exact size of the battery - mine didn't leave enough room to compress the clamp enough for easy removal). Since my "power distribution box with fuse" had an unused slot whose fuse was the same rating as the one that blew, I used a Dremel to open up the entrance to the unused slot so I could plug the connector into it (obviously, you need to check that the fuse rating in any available unused slot is adequate if you are going to do this. Unfortunately I forget where I obtained that useful piece of information.)

Thank You dpaul! It was the power distribution box! Got another one & it starts. Now back to trying to clear codes so I can smog it! Bill
