Wheel mounting
As I plan on changing my Performance wheels/tires to ones more suitable for my driving area, I have two questions I'm hoping you can help me with..
#1 What's everyone's opinion of having Tire Rack do the mounting/change, as opposed to a BMW dealer? Is there anything special a dealer has to do? #2 Do I have to buy new TPM's for all new wheels or can the ones on the current wheels be reused? Thanks for your help. |

#1 Tire Rack for mounting is fine. You don't need to go to the dealer. Then just go to a local tire shop to have them mounted on your car.
#2 The TPMS can be transfered generally on most wheels depends on the wheel manufacturer if they built the wheel to accept OE TPMS. But I think going through the Rack they sell new TPMS for a good price. Plus getting a new set makes life easier instead of having to mount & unmount the tires every time you change back to your other wheels. |

So Tire Rack doesn't mount to the car? Didn't know that..
Also, I'm probably gonna go with another BMW wheel so I'm guessing the TPMS will work... Thanks a lot. |

#1 - Tire Rack has a list of approved installers and their website is very good in reporting the type of equipment they use. I highly suggest calling the tire shop ahead to see if they have experience with aftermarket/performance wheels.
There really isn't anything particularly special BMW dealer does, however I know all BMW dealerships have balancing machines that road force balance. So which ever installer you pick from the Tire Rack website, you can check to see if they use a road force balancing machine. #2 - You can reuse your old TPMS off your old wheels. That's no problem.

Well RobVe seems like your questions were answered. Don't go to the Dealer for tire issues unless you have their warranty. Any good tire shop can do the job better and for much less money. Let me know if you need some help in your wheel journey.
