Damn Boston potholes......

I was going to go out for a little drive, but just as I was about to enter the I-90E on ramp at Albany St. I hit a small pot hole, heard a "ding", and then the car started pulling to the left. I'm like, "oh crap....." Lo-and-be-hold, the TPM warning came on and left front tire is flat. It's a really bad place to have a flat coz it's in the middle of no where, and it's not the most stellar neighborhood. Since I'm not too far away from home (about a mile), I decided to drive home on the flat. When I got home, I couldn't see any damage to the tire itself, no bubbles or anything. I can't see any gash or cuts either. So, I'm puzzled what happened to the tire for it to lose air pressure. I'll probably drive it to the gas station tmr morning and see if I can inflate it back up. Hopefully, it's not losing more air tonight.

By the way, these are non-RFT PS2s and there is no damage to the rim.

Great, there is a gash in the side wall so this tire is done for. Damn you BMW for cheaping out and not putting spares in our cars!

Yeah, and it's national holiday today. I don't think any tire stores are open today. The earliest I can get a hold of someone is probably tomorrow. Hopefully someone in the area will have a 235/35R19 PS2 in stock, or else, I'll be looking at Tirerack again, which will take 2 days to get here...... Damn pot holes $#@$#%#$^%^#%$#@$@$%^*(&(^&^%E$@#$!!

Great, the Gemini place is open today and they can get me a new tire on Monday. Now, need to get the jack kit to take off the wheel.

Kev, I dont think a small pothole can give you a flat..you sure the tire wasn't damaged prior to this?

My winter setup had been there, done that, and repeat 20 times...but never damaged the sidewall
my tires are way cheaper than yours

Tires are brand new from Tirerack and they had been on the car for about 4-500 miles only, so prior damage is unlikely, though I've been having bad luck with hitting pot holes. I'm pretty sure it was that particular pothole hit at that particular angle that cut my tire. Thank god there wasn't any visible rim damage. The side wall of the tire is pretty low, so a small cut at the side wall and the tire is pretty much gone. I tried to use a 12V pump to pump it up this morning and I can feel the air escaping from the side wall. I tried to use the Fix-a-flat and that plan failed as well.

Your winter tires probably have a lot more side wall than mine so it can take a lot more abuse. My 18" setup had 5 bubbles on the left front tire and it was still holding pressure up fine.

+1, rubber band + pot hole galore = bad combo, disaster waiting to happen. You just have to pay to play, sadly...... I had the PS2s on my MBZ before this and I love them. Gives good amount of traction for the TQ on the S/C engine. I haven't had much experience with the PS2s on the 335xi yet, coz I really haven't push the car that much.

The other day I was out on lower Comm Ave grabbing a bite of food and heard a "DIIIIIINGGGG KRRKRKKKKRRRGGRRRR". Turned around, and some poor car hit one of them 5inch manholes jutting out of the pavement. Blew his tire, and rode on rims right up to the curb. Felt real sorry for the dude cause he had out of state plates and was probably just trying to watch the fireworks.

Someone needs to tell the da#n city that those exposed manholes are not acceptable.

I avoid those like plaque. To get to /from Super 88, I would take the pike instead

Getting off the Pike Westbound onto Southbound 128, there are two doosies right in a row. I've already had to replace a tire on it because it bubbled.

Get over to the left as soon as you get off the ramp on the merge!

At least there was no wheel damage.

I was changing lanes on the pike the other day and hit a small pothole between the lanes. I was like, WTF!? The roads in the US are really bad compared to Japan. Both countries snow but the roads in rural northern Japan are still way smoother than the roads in the US...... Sometimes I think this is a big conspiracy to keep the road construction business going.....

LOL~

It's absurd that these workers and the factory workers backed by unions are making more money than more skilled college grads. I guess you have to have a way to support them somehow......

Most likely not me, but I got a call this morning from Auto Salon stating that he spotted me on Rte 3A as well . My car's been sitting on a flat tire for 5 days, and then was on a jack at my apartment's garage since 1pm today. I only took it out for a drive on the pike after I installed the new tire and readjusted the tire pressure.

Is it me, or do the roads around here seem worse than usual this summer? It's like Boston and all of the metrowest towns ran out of money and stopped fixing potholes all of a sudden. I mean, it's never great around here, but this year seems worse than usual.
I'm even getting tossed around pretty bad, and I ride on 16s!
