TV blank disable

... it was once possible to disable the "TV in motion" feature in I-Drive. This seams logical since it is the software that determines when a picture should be displayed. This does not work on the E90, and apparently does not work on any post 2001 vehicles

I have seen the numerous posts on this forum about getting TV working while the car is moving, and also having the ability to plug in external video sources. One of the suppliers for the solution is:

There are numerous others out there including one from Germany, which was referenced in a post I originated titled "TV Blank Disable"

Apparently the service people at any standard BMW dealership have the equipment and the expertise to alter the setting which blanks out the TV display while the car is moving. I am wondering whether there is anyone who knows how to do this on the E90, without any special equipment (eg: via I-Drive controller) ?

If there is, I would LOVE to know. Indeed, I would settle for simply being able to LISTEN to DVDs of live concerts- to me, it's absolutely absurd that you can't at least listen to the audio of a DVD while driving. Totally inane.

Does anyone know how devices like this override the "tv in motion" feature ?

The device is about 200 euro which is ridiculous in my opinion (no offence intended). I could build the device myself - and make the schematics available publicly, if someone would care to explain:

1. Which of the wires behind the nav screen carry the signals that disable the TV function when the car is in motion.
2. What information these wires carry (voltage/signal levels would be good)
3. Any other relevant information.

The most expensive part would be the cable connectors themselves (if you don't want to cut any existing wires). I would imagine that apart from the connectors I could make the device for less than $10. Like I said, I am happy to design the circuit and provide schematics if others are willing to help out.

** EDIT: To add to the above, for those who don't know, the TV is disabled as soon as the car is placed in gear (R or D) AND the hand-brake is released. I have tried engaging the hand-brake while driving (slowly), but this does not re-enable the TV. This seems to indicated that there are three factors:
1. Gear setting
2. Handbrake
3. Car speed

Yep, I spoke to the Technician Supervisor at my dealer about this one and he did say that vehicles prior to 2002 were easy to disable to "no TV in motion" parameter. However, with I-Drive, this is difficult as the speed and motion sensors are tightly integrated with I-Drive. He did mentioned that he did manage to disable the "no TV in motion" feature, but this caused instability with other I-Drive functions.
