e92 backup camera and pdc partial retrofit

I have a 2009 e92 and I tried to fix a backup camera on it after reading the thread
"~DIY: $130 Rear View Camera with OEM integration".

My bad, and me being a novice on these things, I didn't realize that the car has to have PDC for the camera to work when I started with this.

My car has Navigation and almost all packages for the model year except the PDC.

Now I have the backup camera and reverse camera emulator with the harness all fixed and the codes added. Me being not that skilled on DIY hired someone to fix the camera run the wires and fix the harness with the emulator and paid someone else to program the codes. So I already invested $135 on camera and emulator+harness and $370 in labor and coding and have a camera that doesn't work.

I read in another thread someone mentioning a PDC emulator but I couldn't find one searching on the internet. Is there something like a PDC emulator?

I really only want the backup camera to work and not keen on the functionality provided by the stock PDC.

So if there isn't anything like a PDC emulator I am thinking of doing this.

and a used PDC control module from eBay (< $100).

The question I have before I make another silly mistake is if I just hook up the PDC control module and not fix the sensors in the bumper will it get my camera working?

if you don't fix your sensor/s you will get pdc malfunction error on your cid and it wont show camera image.you don't have to have sensors installed into your bumper but sensors do need to be connected to pdc moduel. you can leave your sensors hidden in the battery bay.

You do not need PDC in order to install that backup cam.. I installed that exact same unit (From the $130 DIY backup cam thread) on my parents e90 without PDC and it works fine.

The only thing different might be your RVC values when coding (Mine went unchanged)
