ABS Wheel Sensor/Wheel Bearing replacement
Sorry not sure if this is the right place to post this but i had a few questions regarding abs wheel sensors and wheel bearings. I had the traction light, abs light, and brake light, all pop up together. I pulled codes and had speed sensor failure codes. When i brought the car to the indy they recommended ABS wheel sensor + Bearing replacement for rear right wheel. Quoted at $270. I looked up the DIY's for both (no time to do it, just curious) and they seemed very easy to do. Parts are only $100 for both. Is this price ridiculous? Looks like very little work for $170 of labor.
Also is it normal for both to be replaced together? Thanks Edit: They want $270 for JUST the speed sensor... sounds like a total ripoff at this point Last edited by ALCO35; 10-30-2018 at 11:42 AM.. |

True, the wheel speed sensor takes all of 15 minutes, but that's not a horrid price. |

You'll need a set of Allen wrenches, possibly a flathead, a ratchet and 10mm deep socket (if you disconnect battery) and the ability to remove the wheel. It's a 20 min repair that you could literally figure out as you remove. Just remember how the wire is draped. It's the wire that is attached to the backside of the hub and not the one attached to caliper area. Pull the negative on the battery to be safe. If you still have the code after the install, then just clear and turn on the car. |
