Put new wheels/tires on - car doesn’t rumble anymore. Why?
I just put new wheels and winter tires on my car. Before i ran style 189 oem staggereds with dws06s. The tread on front tires was more than the tears. Everything was wearing evenly from a camber standpoint.
Previously when i would go 80mph+ my car would rumble. My steering wheel wouldn’t shake but the vehicle would. The faster you went the worse it got. What would have been causing this? Because now i realize it’s 100% related to the wheel/tires since it runs smooth as butter at high speed with this new set. |

You could also have tires that are out of round or cupped, or a bent wheel.

For an example tho I got some new wheels this summer with tires and in shipping one wheel weight came off. The car def shakes/vibrates at 140km/h+ but don't really have crazy shake in the steering wheel. |

Here is more info on cupped tires https://www.utires.com/articles/cupp...revention-faq/ Vibration could also come from out of round tire or shifted belt in a tire, out of round or bent rim. Have the rims and tires looked at by a tire store, possibly road force balanced. |

Absolutely. Have had it before(usually on the inside/barrel).
9/10 times its tire balance; Easy to fix. If you feel it in the steering wheel it is front, if its in your seat then its rear. Or could be both. You can check tire pressure, wear and even bends/flats spots with a visual check. Beyond all that it is possible to be a bad control arm/ball joint/warped rotor but that's much less often then the rest. |

Steering shake = front axle
Butt/seat shake = rear axle Faster you go more rumble = bent wheel. Possibly also vibrating CV axle. But as you said, changing wheels fixed it. Whomping noise / light vibration at various speeds= cupped tires Light vibration around 70 = balancing Vibration at lower speeds = tires out of round/cupping/time to shred T If u r 2wd, Jack up your rear wheels and put the car in drive, watch the insides of each rim as they turn. |
