Update CAS using WinKFP

Anyone has the latest daten files for E90 2006 which resolves the ELV error? I'd like to update my CAS using WinKFP but don't have the daten files. Also, what version of BMW standard tools works with the latest Daten files?

Thank you

On the same topic, how to install those daten files? I have downloaded E89 rar ~5GB, should I just extract them manually somewhere?

My guess is the you don't need to as the base download program is fairly up to ( for Bimmergeeks.net downloads)
date. However is you want to you use the B M W coding tool provided
in the package.

Yes you have to extract any compressed files before you can use them with some kind of zip file extractor.

Yes, but extract them where? "C:\EC-APPS\NFS"?

Extract them to your C:\ drive. You should just have a E89 folder there when done. Then using the BMW coding tool, navigate to there to use them to update WinKFP and flash away.

Make a folder to extract them to doesn't matter where but
keep track of it . Then extract the zipped files to that folder.
When you use the coding tool it will ask you
what you want to use as a source folder. The one you just made
will be the source folder . When you start to execute the update
job is will ask you if you want a back up folder for the installed folders
it will make back up of your original essential edbias folders
with a date attached to the name in case you want to go back to those.

I would suggest you use Inpa to get a printout of which
files and which hardware are installed now before doing any flashing and making some man files backups of your original module.

Thank you all for your help. I have an issue with the steering lock, the ELV works fine as it does lock/unlock the steering wheel and read somewhere I need to update my CAS. CAS never been updated (06.12.2005) and the car 2006.

The issue is that, I've tried to update my CAS but the ZB number couldn't be found in WinKFP (6943791) and not sure why, therefore I couldn't update the CAS yet. Any suggestions?

Thank you

Do you have the ZB number is can be found
by going to Inpa select chassis or model number
select functional jobs and doing screen shots of
Selections F1 through F4.

I have an 06 325xi E91 6 cylinder 3 liter gas the ZB number is 9147224 for the CAS

Does Inpa have a selection for your Engine if you have
Diesel or a 4 cylinder car.

How are you updating? With winkfp and comfort mode you don't have to find any Zusb number. Everything is done automatically.

Yes of course, the ZB number is "6943791", apparently the VIN is "0000000" and the date is "06.12.2005".

Yes does have my engine and made the right selection and generated (printed) the file with all the module info.

Well I'm going to press on "Enter ZUSB" and enter "6943791" which the ZB CAS number and apparently no matches. However, if I go manually the only ZB number I can find is the "6943797" and is saying current version "6943797" and new version "6943797" the same. When I go manually to look up for ZB number I go to CAS260 and have about 5 ZB numbers in there and the closest to mine is "6943797". Am I doing anything wrong? Thanks a lot

So you are saying with your interface plugged in and the car
on when you hit comfort mode it should read your hardware and
offer you the latest update automatically ?

Assuming you have uptodate files and the proper ones for the module.

I believe he's saying to press on the "Update ZUSB" rather than "Choose ZUSB" and then program it straight away. I've tried to use the update last evening but didn't continue as I've seen doesn't give you any hardware number, but I'm assuming that's how it should be. I've read somewhere that you need to remove the key from ignition before hitting the program button, only when you're updating the CAS. I need to update the CAS, can anyone help me, please? I'd really much appreciate

I have sometimes thought that uptodate files might be
beyond the range of the older cars as in 06 is left out.
And I have an older car.

And although I have the printouts from Inpa(functional jobs) showing all
my hardware and software I not quite sure what all the column
headers mean.

I guess I need to reread the above a few times.

what if you have comfort access where the key being near the
car is equivalent to it being in the slot?

Well I updated CAS but I don't think the CAS version is the one without ELV as the steering lock still shows up but updating the CAS was successful, no errors.

If you go to Update ZUSB then choose the module family (doesn't really matter if you don't know it, will figure it out by itself), enter VIN then click back and Program, then remove the key in the ignition and then it will tell you that module could be programmed once and hit OK (before hitting OK, make sure the key is removed from the ignition). Pretty much it, works a treat but I believe the version I updated to is not the one without ELV.

Also, someone suggested to update SZL or SCM but my car doesn't have any SZL or SCM modules. The error still show up after 1 - 2 hours of car going into sleep mode which leads me to believe the version is with ELV not without.
