Wheel/Tire ins

Has anyone bought this upon delivery? It does not cover wear and tear. Only road hazards. I can either get this and forgo getting a new set of rims and tires or get a set of light 19s for summer use and 18s for winter/tracking. They are offering it for $1295

Thoughts?

$1295 is more than what I paid. Mine was 795. I would check to see what company they have it contracted with. If its with Safeguard (I think thats what its called, check with Scott), then it covers damage to any rim or tire thats on the car at the time, including aftermarket. If not, then its up to you. But I bought it originally since there's a crapload of potholes and shitty streets around where I live.

They do not cover aftermarket rims and I'm still unsure of getting aftermarket rims. As of now I'll take it only because of the shitty roads we have in our area. The $1295 means I won't have to pay anything out of pocket.

I looked at it this way when I bought mine. If you damage bend or crack 1 OEM rim and get it replaced by the dealer, it's going to end up costing about 1 grand anyway so you've pretty much already made up the cost.

I paid $795 for mine too. I had one OEM wheel replaced because it was cracked and 2 tires replaced because of bubbles and didn't have to pay anything out of pocket. It was all covered. That in itself paid for the insurance already. The only thing about my aftermarket wheels/tires is that if anything happens to them. I will need to pay for it first and then claim it back from the insurance, since my dealer does not stock the aftermarket wheels and tires on my car.

$1,295 sounds a bit high. Then again, the economy sucks and they're raising prices on everything.

GL Shaf!

And my insurance is through Safeguard.

Manufacturer defects should be covered( bubbles) , but 1300 the program is way too high. you can easily get a whole set for that.

The lesser cost option means you will be on the hook to get reimbursed. Is that what you guys have? $1295 means I pay nothing out of pocket. The insurance is underwritten by Penske (the company that owns the dealership as well)

As I stated, I don't pay anything out of pocket for OEM wheels and tires. Since my dealer doesn't stock any aftermarket wheels/tires, then I will have to pay for them first and then get reimbursed.

I'm pretty sure there are no deductibles for any of the wheel/tire insurance out there.

Well, I'll see if I can get them to come down on the price. They said that the price difference is due to the model because they quoted me at $800 for a 335i wheel/tire ins package.
