external storage for media

Hi all

has anyone successfully hooked up an external hard drive for storing and playing media from on their cic?

I have tried a couple of ssds in a usb powered enclosure and although they read,they don't show in the multimedia as an option to browse like my usb sticks do.

any ideas or suggestions are more than welcome.

A long time ago people where attaching hard drives
to the USB or large flash drives . The big problem is it
takes a long time to index the library once it powers up.

You might also try the idrive sub forum.

They were using this for music only.
