I'm a Porsche Man, but that Chevy sounds good! Gets around a track pretty well too.

So it's like semi-official, the ZR-1 is faster around the 'Ring than the GTR.

It would appear so.

At any rate the GT-R is all wheel drive/computer guided. In my view that say that the ZR-1 has a better chassis/set up.

Both are great cars. It looked like the zr1 is faster, quicker, and better handling than the gtr.

Heh... it should be faster than the GT-R for all that money. The GT-R is just the normal model (in the same $-range as a Z06), wait till the Spec-V comes out... it'll be in the same range as the ZR1 and blow it out of the water.

exactly!

Besides, the ZR-1 has way more hp at the wheels.

you can really see that the ZR1 takes advantage of its huge HP difference on the straights, that thing just accelerates. I still think the GTR is the better cornering car.

Easily the GT-R seems more planted in the turns, but I know which driver is having more fun!

The ZR-1 is more the raw "race car" in the traditional sense.

I would say more computer guided then planted.

Either way they are both incredible achievements. Who says push rod engines are a thing of the past!

Wait until Spec-V to make a true judgement...I'm not saying Spec-V will necessarily beat the ZR-1, but it's the correct matchup.

at any rate, i can wait to see if the ZR1 and the V-spec can hold their own against Porsche's 997 GT2. i've seen an unofficial ring time of 7:32 for the GT2, but it has hardly been in the hands of either the public or the press (unlike the ZR1), so perhaps it has the potential to shave 5-10 seconds of that time.

They created the R35 to surpass the 911 turbo's performance and it did. With the ZR1 out now along with the GT2, I doubt Nissan's going to release a V-Spec GTR that will fail to beat them. I agree its not going to blow either away, but it doesn't have to. It simply has to come in first, which it will.

Nissan is going to have to start chopping weight out of that pig. Computers are trick diffs are great, but you can only ignore physics for so long.

Fair enough... probably won't "blow it out of the water", but I'm pretty sure they'll still manage to keep the V-Spec on top. (Especially for anything in or around it's price range.)

I've been a Skyline fan since like 98', so even though this GT-R doesn't come in stick, it's nice to see a $70k car running those numbers. I just have a thing against Vettes and most domestics. I mean, you go buy a $100k+ Vette and it has the same interior of a car 1/4 the price, and shared a lot of parts with economy cars. Don't get me wrong, it's a fast car, and has a great engine, but horsepower doesn't = good cars IMHO.

Which is what the V-Spec GT-R is. A lighter, faster version of the original.

There's still a ton of speculation regarding the GT-R though. It's still believed that the one used on the 'ring was indeed NOT factory settings.

Wouldn't surprise me....remember when they compared the G37 to the 335 on Nissan's on turf that the 335 broked down....

The GTR is still ugly as hell and the Vette looks better hands down.
