opinion on 3rd gear

Just want to know if any one else feels that 3rd gear is really weak when starting from a dig and going through first and second. When ever I race some one I get out on them but when 3rd gear hits the car just feels slugish and thats when cars catch up and even beat me. (there is no problems with the procede or leaks or car problems. 3rd gear just doesn't pull too hard)

Mods:
V3 procede
Fully catless
twin air intakes
AA intercooler

thanx for any ideas you guys can offer.

I only have the sstt, dual cones and DV's, but I think that 3rd is my strongest gear. Thats when I pull on people. My buddies M5( e39), a GTO, Evo, and an e46 m3.

I don't think I've ever had a problem with third.....I usually scratch in 3rd gear. Sometimes my 1st gear seems really strong, sometimes it seems weak....

Maybe your shifting a little too early into third, so it lags a little.

4th gear for me. At the drags, I swear a fat girl jumps in the backseat when I shift into 4th!

Maybe your car is pulling timing. Try adding 100 octane fuel and see what happens.

thats strange, 3rd gear should not be weak at all, something else is going on.

First step of troubleshooting:

Can you tell us what cars are beating you?

The only gear I have a problem with is 6th. WTF is it so close to 5th for? It's like a 300rpm difference. Why not make it a little bit longer and use if for a good highway fuel mileage gear?

3rd is usually pretty strong IMO. It is quite a long gear though maybe that's why you think it's weak.

That's probably just speed when the large HP deficit becomes apparent. It really isn't that obvious in lower gears.

I think you should shift ~6300. Also, what's your peak boost in 3rd?
