What realistic mpg is achievable 335d
What realistic mpg is achievable on 335d/e90 after having economy map? Does it scarify the performance(acceleration) noticeably ?

Well I've only got a 330d auto, but it's mapped to around 317bhp and 673nm of torque. Just doing short journeys to and from work I get low to mid 30's. When on a run 40's are quite easily achievable. I even managed 50mpg on a recent trip up the M5 from Bridgwater to Tewkesbury and back and I didn't have to drive like Miss Daisy to achieve that.

Thanks. I normally get around 47mpg average on my f30 335d (mostly motorway, plus town on weekends) but on my e90 I'm below 37mpg for the same type of journeys. I thought maybe remapping e90 bring up to above 40mpg.

Interesting slant on BMW ownership.
The usual question is "how many ponies can I squeeze out of this thing?" If economy is a primary concern to the extent of remapping for improved fuel usage is a 335 the correct model for you? |

In the last 10 years and while I moved from good petrol cars towards diesels and from a race boy to a careful and mature driver (due to family and age), I was lucky to own a D3 , D3 bi turbo, 320,330,520,530 at different stages. For the last two years I drive a 335d f30 but very recently I was lucky to find a great deal on a 335d e90 saloon which I couldn't afford to miss it. I found it enjoyable, to my opinion even more than my f30 due to rear dry and sport suspension. But on fuel consumption, I was expecting to be above 40 (for my motorway driving route & style). Every car has a different character and is made for a different need and purpose which I understand and respect them but 335d is definitely the right car for my situation and taste, it brings me smile just when I need it even knowing that I'm not pushing it everyday. By the way I think everyone buys a diesel have the fuel consumption in mind

Mid 30’s for my 335d. Had it as low as 28 and as high as 52MPG.

Perhaps it is just you and me getting old? I am happy with the 25 mpg I get from my petrol 335 but then I am comparing it to a 4 litre supercharged Jag which did around 14 mpg in town and just about 20 mpg with cruise control on a motorway! If I attempted to use the performance that it was capable of the trip computer dipped to about 5 mpg. Ahh! Those were the days |

Couple of things to note. F30 has 8-speed gearbox, that helps cruising mpg. The E90, is the coolant temperature (ECT) running in optimum range? Low ECT can blunt mpg.

also.ive had numerous cars remapped..not once has mpg risen,,only if you drive to the letter of the law are you going to get better mpg,,we get them mapped for a reason,,so when you got your foot down,,it throws more fuel in....but if you drive exactly the the same as you did when you were pre remap. then mpg might go up a little,,but placebo more than fact me thinks.also as above..coolant temps have to be good to get mpg at its best,,my e92 335d gets to 95 degrees no problem
