2010 335i - P29E0 Mixture Control Code

A month or two ago, SES light showed up on my 335i. I scanned the car for codes with INPA, and bunch of codes were stored in error memory (2C7E, 2C27, 2C6B, 29E1, 2C31 and 29E0).

I figured that I probably have an air leak somewhere since my valve cover gasket was leaking oil and needed to be replaced. I replaced the VC gasket, and the crankcase hose since one of the clips was broken. That still didn't resolve the SES issue. I decided to take the car for walnut blasting, and after that I reset DME adaptations through COBB and INPA.

Finally, the SES light did not come up for about 200 miles, but 29E0 code still persists. I am not sure what the issue could be. Injectors were replaced about 4 years ago with index 12, and LPFP sensor was replaced few months ago. I run COBB stage 2+ map with high flow catted downpipes, intercooler and AFE intake. The car has 120k miles.

If someone with more knowledge could look at the log at the link below, and share some insight if it looks all right or no, I would really be grateful.

I ran it for one day when I went to "wannaGOFAST" event few years ago, but never again. I am experiencing this issue as of recently, several years after I used e85.

I'm having the same issue right now, someone told me to log my STFT and LTFT and my lambdas. My HPFP read 56000ish through INPA when I activated it. It was replaced once in the past, I have index 7s that are probably the originals, coils and plugs within 10-15k, cleaned my vanos and tmap sensor code came back immediately, my lambda voltages are good. I just dont know how to read the logs. Everyone wants to tell me injectors but I want to be sure before I spend all that money. Bank 1 injectors appear leaky as it does not recover to 235 like bank2.

Is that a normal value when not under load? When I'm off the gas completely it should recover? I was getting 29E1 which is bank 2 lean I believe but getting misfires codes on cylinders 1 and 3 which is bank 1 right?. How can you tell it's not the sensor itself? Is it because I have good voltages? Thanks for the response, check out my thread on the issue.

I actually just did another log driving to my girls house. Cold start this time and what you mentioned is making a lot of sense and is showing a lot more in this log. Looks like bank 1 is a lot slower to peak at 235 than bank 2 when I'm off the gas. Around 345 time you can see bank 1 starting to add fuel again while I'm still off the gas and bank 2 is closed. This is really interesting actually when I know what I'm looking for. Let me know what you think.

It doesn't seem like we have the same issue. My car doesn't run jerky at start up or at all (for now). Which probably excludes leaky injectors. If anything, my injectors could be clogged, because car runs lean.

Based on what I read about STFT and LTFT percentages, I exclude boost leak as the reason for running lean because STFT gets higher at load than it is when car runs idle. Earlier today, I took a log at WOT, and STFT on both banks got to +30%.

Before, I spend $1200 for a set of new index 12 injectors, could this caused by a weak fuel pump, failing HPFP or bad LPFP sensor? I know that LPFP pressure should be around 72 PSI, but at WOT it gets to high 50s and low 60s PSI. I am not sure what acceptable range for HPFP pressure is.

I bought a cheap LPFP sensor of ebay for $18. I am kinda hoping that it could be the culprit of it. I am just desperate to conclude that this is caused by something that is cheap to fix or at least cheaper than new injectors.

Any helpful inputs would be appreciated.

Despite the appearance that I am having a discussion with myself on this topic, I am still not completely insane. I know that people read these topics so I will share my findings.

That being said, based on my limited knowledge of n54 fuel system that I gained in the past few weeks, I believe that my pre-cat 02 sensors need replacement. I checked their voltage in INPA, and it seems to be constantly over 1.5 V when idle. From what I read about 02 sensors, that voltage should fluctuate between 0.45 and 0.9 V (my post cat sensors appear to run at that voltage).

My car is running lean based on the fuel trims, and AFR logs, but supposedly 02 sensor voltage higher than 0.5 indicates that the car runs rich. Perhaps my 02 sensors are just put and need replacement since the car just reached 120k miles. Another thing that confuses me is that the codes I am getting P20E0 and P1071 (which reappeared after some time) are bank 1 related, but bank1 and bank 2 stft trims are +34% under WOT.

I plan to replace them the next weekend or the weekend after that.

If anyone could share any thoughts that would be great.

Based on the wot log, fuel trims are maxed out or close to. I dont see it running lean except for an instance where bank 1 spikes to >30 at high load. That is not good. Your log doesnt even have boost.

I think that the boost is okay, the car was hitting near what it was requesting. I will take another set of logs later today.

It doesn't make sense to me that the car runs rich under WOT but has maxed out positive STFT.
