I guess this tells us that the Z06 is still faster than a GT-R in a straight line, but on a curvy track, it's possible that the GT-R would prevail or at least be more even. These rolling races weren't even close...the C6 Z06 walked the GT-R...hmmmm?

The vids are either B.S. or that Corvette has some mods. I've learned never to believe any of these private videos for two reasons. 1) Most people don't know how to drive supercars and 2) People losing on purpose for whatever reason. I'll trust the professional reviews.

The GT-R has a very fast dual-clutch tranny with paddle shifters.

Not surprised.
AWD cars always get toasted by comparable RWDs from a roll. Case in point, 350z vs STi. 335i vs 335xi. Something is wrong with the GT-R driver however, he messed up the launch control the first time? Just watched the Z06 vs R8 video from the same user. Is something wrong with the GT-R? We all know the GT-R will out launch a R8 easily. |

the GT-R Owner is the one who posted the vid, and both Drivers are good ones...
the Z06 is stock, so is the GTR... it just shows how the GTR cant win it all, and even in the track, the Z06 cant be beaten easily... Z06 FTW...

That just shows what it looks like having a car that traps at ~125 mph (ZO6) does to a car that traps 115-120 mph (GT-R)
I think it's funny how the GT-R's trap speeds have varied so greatly. Early on we saw 120 mph traps from test cars (ahem ringers maybe) since then they've been as low as 114 mph traps with 116-118 mph seemingly average. It's clear the ZO6 driver jumped the launch both times, but as it said in the video, it wouldn't have mattered, the ZO6 would of caught and passed the GT-R anyway. 505 hp in 3100 pounds vs 480 hp in 3800 pounds Even if the GT-R is underrated by 20-30 hp as some have speculated (but has shown to be untrue in some dyno tests) it's weight and AWD drivetrain loses would not make it run with a ZO6 I laughed long ago when people said the GT-R would beat the ZO6 in a straight line (I still laugh that Edmunds.com states the GT-R is faster...because it has a faster 0-60 time Laugh-Out-Fing-Loud). The Vette has more power, less weight, less drivetrain loss, and better aerodynamics. You'd have to be pretty obtuse to think a GT-R would be faster than a ZO6 (or even equal too) in a straight line. |

What drugs are you smoking?? The Z06 is faster than the GTR in a straight line and around tracks. Don't let Nissan marketing fool you. Slap a race driver at the Ring and the Auto Sport times become irrelevant. The Z06 is that fast.
