No CEL for first time in a > year

Big thanks to this forum for the knowledge and instruction to dive into my 190k miles 2009 335D (original owner). CEL has been illuminated for a LONG time, and with it starting to run rough at start-up and idle, I debated giving the car up for scrap or diving in to see what was wrong. I am not adept at car mechanics, to say the least, but am handy and a general DIY'er. With that being said, this forum was instrumental in me doing the following over the past 2 months:

1. CBU - this was daunting at first, but after purchasing the wands, adapter, boroscope and walnut blasting equipment there was no turning back. Took my time and have very satisfying before and after pictures

2. Glow plug module replacement - getting this thing out was a PIA

3. Thermostat replacement

4. Vacuum line replacement

5. Motor mount replacement - this was very satisfying as I couldn't figure out the "shudder" that only occurred on left hand turns during acceleration. Instantly fixed issue after replacement

6. Boost pipe seal replacement

7. Cleaned intercooler

8. Fuel filter replacement

9. Learned how to install (not easy) and use ISTA

500 miles since all this work and no CEL. A few hundred bucks in parts and tools. In the process I learned a lot about how this motor works. I love this car again and hope to drive it a few more years. A big thanks to all of the people who put time and effort in explaining these repairs.

Next step EGR delete, methanol and tune.

Nice. Get it tuned and deleted and you may never see one ever again.

Nice job. The x5 35d glow plug module is an even bigger pain in the ass. I don't know why they make those wires so short??!

When you guys say replacing the glow plug heating module is a PITA, are you guys taking off the intake manifold or leaving it on?

Took it off, since I was doing the plugs too.
Biggest issue is the coolant pipe in the area and short wires that don't give you much slack to get to the connectors.
