Newly Lowered E90 - Want to go back to stock height?

I just purchased a 2011 BMW 328i that just previously had the H & R Cup Kit installed on 11/10/2018. It looks beautiful, but I think this setup is too low to let my daughter drive the car.

I don't have the original springs to put it back to stock. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get it back to stock without breaking the bank? I may be willing to give the springs away to someone if we could get the work done to get it back to stock. I'm just south of Nashville, TN.

Let me know what you guys think,

-Sam

I have a set of Standard (non-sport) springs from my LCI '11 328i. They have about 75000 miles on them. I'm in Birmingham. PM me if you would like to try to work something out.

Thanks for the reply. I just looked up the kit and I believe it consists of front struts and springs as well as rear shocks and springs (I'm guessing.) I would need all the parts to be swapped and I don't want to go back to old parts. If someone has something newer and would like to trade, please let me know. Also, if someone has a suggestion on a complete KIT I can buy as a replacement, let me know. If I put on a new kit, I'll put the H & R cup kit for sale on here.

Thanks again,

-Sam

I'm not aware of any kits you can buy that will get you back to standard-suspension height. Even the BMW Performance Suspension is lower than the OE Sport Suspension, and the aftermarket kits you'll find usually include your H&R springs or the Eibachs, both of which are lower than Sport.

Good luck on your search!

Does anyone have any comments on this Koni Kit from Bav Auto? Is the price right?

You will want to check to see which Eibach springs those come with.

If they are the Sports, they likely will not be much higher than your H&R's.

And yes, the price is right, as the STR.T's are Koni's entry level shock.

I would post in the Southeast forum to see if you can find someone willing to do a full swap for their OEM setup locally.

Pretty car. Let her ride, driving a lowered car will make her more careful

Stupid question, but have you verified that the dampers are in fact H&R and that lowering springs weren't just randomly added to stock dampers?

That would change the conversation dramatically.

The guy I bought the car from was a BMW nut. I'm pretty sure he still has the receipts for everything. He also works at a car dealership. He built his own BMW golf cart, had it painted tanzanite blue (with logo on front), and covered the seats in left-over BMW seating leather...

Replaced everything this weekend. Ended up going with the Bilstein B12 Pro-Kit Suspension Kit. Everything seemed to fit well. Suspension feels great now! Exactly what I wanted. If you ever do this swap, I highly recommend replacing the upper strut mounts as well. Mine have some play in them (they have a bearing in there), so I'll have to go back later and replace them. The OEM ones are only $20 each on FCPEuro so it's not worth the effort to reuse the old.

A tip for you as well. I used a crow bar and a 2lbs sledge hammer and hammered the crow bar into the part that holds the bottom of the struts to spread the compression fit around it. When you do this to spread it, DO NOT REMOVE IT until you have the strut removed. This piece is like a spring and you can't easily pry it open, but you can hold it open as long as there is something wedged in there.

Good luck!

-Sam

If you're looking for a budget swap, post up a thread on the classifieds section. Someone will definitely be willing to trade their stock setup for yours. Your setup should have more value so you could probably get a little cash on top as well to go towards labor/alignment if that's what you want. There are always people selling stock setups too when they upgrade. Usually around $150 for all four springs and shocks. Car looks great btw, good luck!
