Foxwell or Carly
Curious if anyone here has tried a foxwell nt510 or the Carly for their F25 X3? Ive read that these units tend not to support as much for the x3 but other the 3 series? Specifically looking for a device that will do the transfer case adaptions..

I have had no problems using the Foxwell (Specifically a NT520 Pro)...although it would not automatically detect the VIN)...on both an e90 and F25... it did on the 2013 X6M.
I dropped the pan, drained and filled the X6M at 97500km but did not reset tranny although the Foxwell I have is supposed to do that... The tranny remains perfect, I did not bother resetting the transfer case either... It supposedly can run adaptations/ resets http://www.foxwellsupport.com/foxwell-nt500/ Update... it found the VIN on the second use...I think it was just too cold...and the battery was not playing. I’ve since used it to reset the steering angle sensor and the transfer case adaptation on an X6M. Last edited by Bilbofraggins; 02-07-2019 at 12:01 PM.. |

The Foxwell nt510 has worked well for so so far. Haven’t tried anything hardcore yet, just diagnosing faults and resetting after oil changes, replacing Vanos solenoids, etc. Used for e90 and f25, no problem with VIN recognition for me.

Received my NT520 this morning, only problem is can't get the Foxwelltech page to give me a Foxwell ID so I can register it and update it to help get the VVT and CVT reset.
So until I can get the Foxwell ID and update this NT520 is little more than a paper weight for me. Guess I should have gone with Autel MX808 that I could buy from local O'Reilly auto parts store. Live and learn. |

Ended up getting the Foxwell NT510 but it cant recognize the Vin and it seems many of the options are not selectable for the X3 including VTG reset.

I used it today on an E90.. this time we got the VIN...last time it didn’t play well as it was too cold a morning for the battery (just entered vehicle type manually on that occasion) ..Charged the battery... Hey presto playing nice..
I’m trying the adaptation of my X6 VTG tomorrow... this time doing the specific steps on page 26/27 of the manual. I’m happy enough so far... although all I’ve really done is steering angle reset. I’m still in learning mode myself...but just to see no BMW codes on two vehicles..an E90 and X6 was pretty satisfying... apparently I’m easily pleased. It's easy to use and quickly goes through all systems. Last edited by Bilbofraggins; 02-01-2019 at 09:15 PM.. |

The nt410 works great on the e90s including my m3. I could even do DCT adaptations reset and a slew of things. Unfortunately the NT410 doesn't work well on the F25 X3 as I confirmed from foxwell that they don't plan to support this vehicle with this unit..

I couldn't get the Carly GEN II adapter from Amazon to work. Carly's website directed me to it when I selected iOS, but the adapter is apparently only available for bluetooth connectivity with Android.

That's the one I use. It comes and goes in inventory. Which is silly, you'd think they'd have learned to make enough of the things to keep sales flowing. |

Finial was able to get ID and register tool, then tried it on my 20111 BMW X3 28i, and found it will not do what they say it would do for my auto.
Was able to register new battery but it says there is no engine reset for this car. That is after it will even read the Vin under auto detect mode. It also does not find any code even after the car says there is start problem. So looks like this tool will not do what they say it will do for this BMW X3. Have even talked to another company about there tool and he said he would recommend the Foxwell NT520 for most people that are having problems like mine. |

Foxwell NT520 Pro-BMW
I have just received my Foxwell NT520 Pro-BMW and cannot make it auto-scan or read my X3 (F25). Foxwell support informed me that all F series cars may encounter issues due to the units Hardware. They suggested a trade in (NT520 + cash) to upgrade to a NT644
