Hate my SSTT, is there something wrong?
Ok so I finally got my SSTT on the car, been driving it for about a week with it (and I drive the car every day to/from work). Frankly I think the car feels WORSE with the SSTT on.
Seems to idle at lower RPMs so I have to floor the pedal to get the car into the torque band; makes the car sluggish. Also the torque seems peakier as opposed to the nice flat torque of the 335i stock. And finally I just don't feel the extra power anyway unless I'm really flooring it in SD mode, really only at 4000rpms or higher. So in daily driving I think the SSTT is a dud or worse because of the lower idle RPM and thus the initial sluggishness. Any thoughts. Am I doing something wrong. Do I need to program this car somehow?? |

Of course the company on Ebay that I bought it from seems to be off of Ebay now. Have no recourse. What a joke this SSTT is.
Edit: I did go into Paypal and found his email address (in Arizona) and have emailed the guy. Hope it's not a fraud SSTT or some scam. He does have a good rating on Ebay... And I did find his myspace page as well (which I won't post now because I want to give him a chance to stand behind this POS) so hopefully he'll stand up for this one. yeah yours is a defect. i've been in a couple different cars with the SSTT before it fully adapted and i felt a huge difference compared to stock. Since you bought it on ebay and that company is out of business, you might be SOL. Hopefully you can find a way to get a new one or get your money back using ebay's protection program

My car is a 2007 335i; just took me a while to get around to putting the SSTT in. I do have new software; maybe SSTT doesn't work with 30, watch out for scams and watch out for 30 out there.

I would say that the unit is defective. I have had 3 different units in my possession each delivering good gains. Try contacting Jeff and see what he can do for you. |

Sorry, but I didn't know who Jeff was at the time. A friend of mine locally told me about the Turbo Tuner and I just went home and searched on Ebay and there it was, and the guy had a 100% rating. I will try Jeff. I'm just very frustrated is all.

I can understand your frustration, but unfortunately it sounds like you paid full retail on ebay. I actually paid less than that from Jeff when they were on sale a while back. You should focus on getting that back to who you bought it from, get your money back, and go buy a brand new one. They are excellent for the money...

i think we can understand your frustration. its most likely a defective unit, i have never heard of complaints from people with the SSTT like yours, try to contact Jeff from eurobahn as mentioned, give split second a day or two to respond or just call them.

I agree on thepedal travel, I feel I need more throttle with the SSTT to get the car into boost than I did stock, but I CAN feel more power and more pull for sure especially in 3rd gear !! Good luck, it's not a crazy fast mod, but it's a good safe starting point..

UPDATE: so I emailed three people, the guy who I bought it from (Creative Motoring in AZ), Jim at Eurobahn on the advice of the people here, and Split Second directly. Only heard back from Split Second so far and they told me that I had to resolve it through my selling dealer, they would not help.

Where are you in CA? Maybe another member near you with a SSTT could try swapping SSTT's with you to see if you have a defective unit...

i would def try to talk to the main dealer, it does actually make sense but god knows what is wrong with this unit, buying it off a dealer on ebay. the SSTT has a chip inside, it can be broken, damaged, water damaged or w.e. its hard for the manufacture of the product to help you since they dont know where it came from or what is wrong with it. take it off your car and dont run it.
you need to try to contact them the people/scum you bought it off of and return it asap. |
