i have two questions for you pc guys.

1. can you use a 2.0 pci-e card on a 1.0 pci-e mobo? this is for my bros computer. i built him a $3k pc and about 6 months later pci-e 2.0 came out so im wondering.

2. what happens if you put a gpu that requres 500w psu but you have a 450w? i want to upgrade my old desktop gpu (agp) but there are mad fast agp cards that equal a 8800 but the psu min req is 500w. my old desktop has a 450 what but it has a koolance system drawing power from it along with all the other necessities with a x850 pe right now. so what happens if i upgrade to this agp gpu requiring a min of 500w psu?

Simple answer - If the 2.0 PCI-e card will automatically switch to 1.0, then Yes. If not, then No. The card specifications should list whether it's 1.0 and 2.0, or just 2.0.

Personally, I don't think this will be a problem, unless you have like 10 hard drives, and a bunch of other cards.
