I have seen from many posts from people, that you guys in California go down to Mexico to race alot, so i was wondering what you guys thought.....

My boy has a GTO and is saying even with a chip that he is going to smoke me. What do you guys think? I am thinking about getting the Helix or JB3 because both are compatable with V81.

So if i get one of those chips and nothing else should i beat him by alot or will he beat me or will it be even??

He is talking TONS of shit to me and about my supposoedly "WEAK" car to all our boys.

By the way he is stock..........and it is a 2005 or 2006 LS2 GTO............

I think there is a difference betwen 2005 and 2006 GTO. They are heavier than 335i. The 05 one was 350HP, and the 06 was 400HP. I think with Helix or JB3 you should be able to beat either one. Not by much though.

It's not a real big deal...The 06' GTO has the straight line quickness of an E46 M3 just about.

i raced my car against my friends a stock 6.0 gto when i was stock and lost then when we both got our cars chipped i beat him a quarter of a car btw i have jbx

You're gonna race on a track right? I hate street racers, u gotta be the biggest jackass and most likely not get much pu$$y if you need to constantly draw attention apon yourself and probably end a meet because the cops get called or worse, kill some family in a minivan.

The 2005 and 2006 GTOs are the same. Both with the LS2 400HP 400TQ. The 2004s had the LS1 with 350 hp.

I'm not sure how heavy the 335i's are, but the GTO is about 37XX lbs. I would think that if you had a chip, it will be close / even match. Since both are rwd, it will come down to the driver skill if going from a stop.

+1...even if he has an exhaust or other minor mods and you are tuned well (e.g. PROcede v3, JB3, etc.), you should take him by at least ~ 2 CLs. I ran against a 6.0L GTO w/ exhaust a while back and walked him easily. Also, when I went to the track, the two 6.0L GTOs were running high 13's/low 14's vs. my runs.

Yes, the GTOs are fast and have the same 'Vette engine, but they are also heavy (>3,800lbs. I believe). After your tuned 335i walks his GTO, ask him if he still thinks your car is "weak?"

I think you'll win with the JB3. But no matter what happens you already won, because he's obviously obsessed with your car if he needs to talk so much crap and brag about about how his car is better to everybody constantly.

exactly! they are around 13.3-13.4 sec quartermile
they may have the corvette engine but they dont have the corvette tranny

I can tell he is starting to get nervous because he was talking to one of our boys last night and he said how much of a difference could a chip really make......LOL

His problem is he really doesnt know cars, he thought his car was rated at 400 hp and tq AT THE WHEELS, he was trying to tell me that he had a special tranny and gears that came stock with the car so that there was no loss of power from the crank to the wheels......I asked him, "do you know how stupid you sound right now"

I'm also thinking about adding in the dual cone intake the sametime that i do the chip now, since its only like 200 bucks......i was just a lil nervous about the warranty on my leased car

I go to the drags with one of my friends who has an 06 GTO all the time. I probably have raced him at least 50 times. His best time with intake, exhaust, drag bags, drag radials, short shift was a 12.70 at 108.xx, and that was not his norm. If you have a tune you should easily beat him, given you are both on street tires. If he is stock and you are tuned it won't even be close. My friend now has all the same mods, plus headers and a dyno tune and put down 387 whp. He traps in the 108, 109s right now in the hot weather, which is about the same as my V3 and intake. If I had drag radials I'd probably beat him everytime. The biggest difference between the cars is where the power comes in. My 1/8 mi mph are usually about 3 mph faster, but he makes it all up in the top end. Bottom line, if you are chipped (procede or jb) you should easily beat him unless he has a lot of things done.

stock 335 vs stock GTO is a pretty close race, and depends greatly on the temperature. The hotter it is, the easier it will be for the 335 to win.

True; the GTOs are notorious for losing power in hot, humid weather.

In the end it doesn't matter as your car will look better loosing than his will winning - the GTO was an ugly ass piece of crap that was fast in a straight line, you win on looks and handling hands down and will take him with a tune - look out for G8's though!
