USB Adapter
One great feature I saw on the 08's that isn't on the 07's is the usb adapter next to the 1/8 jack in the center console. Any way of getting that handy little jack on the 07's?

Hey my car did not come with the USB port option. Is there a way I can get one equally as good like the factory option?

I had an older model of this that had the fm tuner in it, my son broke it and I totally forgot about it. I love technology!
Flea7 - Thanks for the info.

Isn't that like the alternative to the ipod hookup or is this just for charging only. Usb primarily is an information stream.

My car is an 05/07 built. And I have the USB adapter for my iPod along with the 1/8 jack in the center console. There's a cable that connects both the adapter and the 1/8 jack to my iPod. Is this what you are talking about?
oh btw, I used my iphone once on it, and it failed to charge the phone.

It became available as an option starting with 03/07 production. There has been talk of a retrofit becoming available for US cars but it's not for sure as near as I can tell. Even if it did become available it might not work on pre-03/07 cars since there were changes in the electronics at that time that probably made it possible.

At the moment the only way to do it is to get a garage with the Autologic system to rewrite your vehicle order.
They can download the spec of your car from your car, edit it to say it has option 6FL (usb/ipod) installed. If you have bluetooth and no nav you will have the usb control unity installed already, it is the bluetooth hi module, if you have prof nav and bluetooth you will have the bluetooth low, so you will need to source a new bluettoth module, around £600+vat from the dealer or €200 from ebay.de. Once this is installed you can get a retrofit cable and a usb hub, that along with the new socket with the usb connector on it and the update is all you need. There is an official reftrofit kit coming, it is in final testing, install time is 2 to 2.5 hours and parts are £150, so around £350 for cars with bluetooth and no nav, for cars with nav you will need to add the new hi module which will get expensive. |
