CDV Poll

Been looking into getting this done for a long time now and been following a lot of threads about it. Looks like a great product overall and makes the mt much smoother. maybe i'm paranoid about warranty issues.

wanted to get a number of things by making a simple poll. some input on answer would be great. on how great your cdv change is or if it's not much of a difference, don't like the new feel.

thanks!

It's a no brainer.
Get a modified CDV or take yours out.
CDVs are for people that don't know how to drive a manual.

Do it, worth while.

RR CDV and weighted M knob make for the best shifts IMO

Could there really be any difference between modded CDVs?

Maybe someone can explain this to me. I did this in my 330i and I liked it, but since I just got my 335i coupe I feel it shifts better than my 330i and I haven't done the CDV. Am I missing something here?

Also, what is the difference between modifying it and removing it altogether?

See above, I just like the shifting better in my 335 right now (original CDV) better than my 330i (modified CDV). Not sure why though.

I dont see why no-CDV vs modded-CDV would make any difference if modded CDV has no internal restrictions
If inner diameter of the hose is not bigger than CDV's, then it should be ok either way

The down side of having CDV completely removed is visibility for tech guys
I have modded CDV

Just my $0.02

If you do this, then it will shift even better.
I'm sure you won't know until you do it.

IMO, eliminating a CDV is better because from what I saw in the modified CDV, the hole is still smaller than the hose line.
Also, you will save the money on a decent dinner for yourself.

You are correct though. It's nice insurance for the techs.

I'm actually thinking of completely eliminating mine this weekend and I'll find out for sure if the hole is smaller than the hose line.a
In my M3, I completely eliminated it, but I wasn't so worried about the techs then.

do you have to bleed the clutch/breaks? that seems to make the procedure a lot more involved

Yes.
Here's my belief.
When fluid comes out then air gets in.
Follow the DIY and that section.
