Cobb E30 map versus MHD E85 maps?
I'm running the Cobb E30 map and satisfied with it, but just like everyone else I'm itching for a bit more.
Should I shell out $250-500 to get a protune or spend that money (maybe less) and get the MHD as I'm curious how their E40+ maps are? I'd probably get a stage 2 lpfp at that point. I'm leaning towards the MHD and selling the Cobb ![]() Lastly, does anyone know how the Cobb OTS E30 map compares to the MHD OTS E85 maps? |

MHD definitley makes more power.
If you can sell the Cobb for a decent price, it's definitely worth it. When I sold mine a couple years ago it covered the cost of buying all the maps and a cheap tablet, so migrating from one tuner to the other cost me nothing. Would still be worth the switch even if you lose a few bucks along the way though. |

If you legitimately just want a little more, and are staying stock turbo, and don't care about boost by gear, etc. A pro-tune on the cobb will be enough to make you happy. Plenty more in her. I would personally never run an off the shelf map, once you get a proper pro-tune you'll never go back. Just my opinion.

yeah, any custom map for any module/remap will outperform an OTS .. and just about anyone can give you anything close to the latest aftermarket MHD maps now.. the motor might change in its preferences a bit as it ages and the fuel changes but most tuners will let you make minor tweeks every now and then.

I was in the same boat. Happy with cobb e30 but eventually made the switch to MHD. Even though a protuner wound likely yield the same results, I think the fact that MHD has ongoing development and more tuning parameters makes it overall better than cobb. Exhaust burble option is fun as well.
When comparing stage 2 Cobb vs MHD on 91 oct, I feel that MHD pulls harder and smoother. I have not tried e85 yet, not sure if my stock LPFP would handle the abuse anymore lol

Thanks guys, a big caveat to switching to MHD is the cold start and extra cooling of the water pump. Was debating if I should bite the bullet and switch to MHD or get a protune being that I don't want to shell out $500 for a protune and just apply that to the MHD and a LPFP. Leaning towards MHD as of now.
