Does anyone know what exhaust this is?
Hello everyone, firstly I would like to start off I have been browsing this forum a lot and I used it to make the decision to buy this vehicle as this is my first BMW. It is a 2011 BMW 335xi 6MT (my first stick shift too).
I am so far in love with the vehicle. I got it at a low mileage of 46000 miles or approximately 74000 km to my Canadians out there. It came with (from the best of my knowledge) a VRSF catless downpipe and chargepipe, BMS intake, and a JB4. I have an BMS oil catch can and evolution racewerks FMIC ready to go in when the weather is better. I am not too knowledgeable on exhausts in general and I do not believe this is the stock exhaust. I have no idea what it is, I took a video of it and if anyone could provide any insight it would be very helpful AND appreciated! Also, I have done research and have heard that these motors are notorious for their leaks with the OFHG (The OFHG was done prior to me picking up the vehicle) Valve cover gasket and oil pan gaskets, is there anything else I should look for to keep this car going for the long run? I plan on making it my forever car (for now lol) Here is a video I took of the exhaust while it was on a lift: https://streamable.com/jhj36 Thanks again! |

Yeah this is not the stock exhaust at all. It looks like the Magnaflow exhaust configuration, but normslly Magnaflow is written on the muffler.

So it is not stock you are right. Kind of looks like one of the Magnaflow exhaust configuration, but normally Magnaflow is written on the muffler.

https://www.bimmerworld.com/Exhaust/...e-Touring.html Looks similar, but I'm not sure of they are meant to fit on my vehicle since its for n54. I also found this one: https://www.bimmerworld.com/Exhaust/...35i-11-12.html but apparently this one is for the sedan and specifically states that it is NOT for the XI AWD model: with this I am concerned if it'll be okay to keep on? I also have a problem with one of the tips not perfectly aligned with the bumper cut out holes so maybe my exhaust is actually meant for the sedan. What do you think? |

Talking from a hardware point of view and judging from the video, the exhaust system should be working fine. For the tips, sometimes the exhaust wasn't installed straight or with these aftermarket systems you can sometimes adjust the tips. You could also buy slip on tips and adjust these. My tips on my stock exhaust aren't even alligned I don't know why! EDIT: I just checked the video again concerning the tips and I think that these are not independent tips but just a pipe welded to the muffler. If the anti symetrical look of the tips bother you I would suggest getting slip on tips

HAHA, sorry I think you may have misunderstood what I was trying to say, I was not referring to states or anything, I meant to say on the website it stated that it is not meant for an awd model. This screenshot will help clarify what I was trying to say haha: View post on imgur.com Yeah when I brought it to my mechanic, I asked him he could just bang it over to center it and he said that the pipe is coming from the muffler and it is too strong to center, so I'm not quite sure what to do other than leave it lol. I will give the slip on tips a look at but I fear it will just be off centered as well. |

Yes i agree these are Magnaflows because i have them on my n55 Coupe. The tips dont align on the back bumper but they are really close in measurement. I believe i have about 0.50"-0.75" difference
