Lightbulb usb & ipod, one or the other, ... or both

I use an existing muvo mp3 player with usb port to listen to books on tape from audible.com. I use this memory player as I can leave in the car with hour of books and listen to while stuck in traffic.
I see the 09 3 series has a usb port, and I assume I can use this usb port to plug in the mp3 player for books.

However there is an ipod adaptor that may work better? It seems I am the only poor ludite cave man without an ipod.

My question is, If I purchase the $350 cable for the ipod, can I still use the existing usb port for my mp3 book player?

I may upgrade to an ipod later or use my wifes during trips.

Thanks in advance

iPod Adapter

In order to get the USB port you would have to order the Factory 6FL iPod Adapter kit. Without it, you will only have the AUX port (line-in). If you get the aftermarket iPod adapter from BMW, that will only support an iPod.

All in all,
6FL iPod = USB and AUX
None = AUX only
Aftermarket iPod = iPod Connector for iPod use

hope this helps.

Since I work for Apple, I'm supposed to tell you to buy an iPod.

Garage List
I heard there is an "upgraded" version coming out over the parts counter that is comparable or better than the one installed from the factory.

I will order the 6FL iPod option. Will use "line-in" to get started. Then migrate over to ipod. Still getting used to playing with the Wii with my kids, so behind on the current audio formats!
That helps a lot!

merc c class ipod integration

A friend bought 08 c class over weekend. After the demonstration, would buy an ipod package for bmw. Simplicity of use and will finallly get around to listening to all those CD's from the 90's! Thank all who posted for their input.
