I transferd all the car audio from my other car to my 328 ( orion xtr 3000 on sub and a 1000w Pioneer for highs) I changed my alternator to the 180 amp. My other car (Volvo s60) had 140 amp alternator with big 3 upgrade and performed excellent. My bmw acts as if it want to stall when at a stop light even with the gain down 25%. I had this system in 2 other cars with same gain settings but this car is the only one that acts crazy. I know these cars cars act weird with aftermarket electrical but is there anything I can do or is this something I have to deal with.

The pro's on here use to say you could run up to 2000 watts without
having to do any upgrades to the electrical system.
Nobody that posts on here as done that sort of thing recently.
You could put up a better description of your equipment it might
help.

So I guess its 3000 plus 1000 watts.

Yes I'm running total of around 3500 but with gain control I never had issues with this same setup in my other cars which had smaller alternators. I rechecked all my connections and my battery is new. Alternator is new also. Rpms is everywhere at car idle with music playing

Add a 2nd batt and battery isolator?

WAY overkill and I'd be willing to bet the amplifiers are not supplying or trying to supply the claimed power above. My guess would be a wiring issue.

Very generous, I would bet likely south of 2k realistically. Without more data though there's no way to tell but I'm certain it isn't doing near what was posted, especially with music.

Orion xtr 2500 and Pioneer GM-D8604. That orion do way over 2500 on a dyno. I'm pushing a 12" sundown x v2. I'm not a noob with music I was just thinking it's the car and not my installation since I wired over 100 cars with music but with my specific setup in my last car it's acting up in my beamer. I know these cars don't like voltage drops or anything electrical aftermarket. I was hoping to hear someone say that these cars don't handle sudden small voltage drops. But o well, I'm convert g everything back to stock because I can't figure it out

Appreciate the reply but like I said I know my way around a gain and bass boost knob. Other car had smaller alt but handled my system really good. I'm still learning this car and was thinking maybe the ibs have something to do with my issue

Never install music in my car without big 3. I actually did big 4 and no I never added a 2nd battery. My music is now in my brother car thumping with gain almost half up until I find time to put it back in my other car. It's 100 percent the car and that's facts. I want to remove the ibs and see if that fix it

It seems you're a bit on the defensive side here. I've done 100s of cars too (this year alone) so I'm also no 'noob'.

The model you're mentioning here, now, is different than what was originally mentioned but regardless yes, I'm sure it does but I also did not realize that your driving 'music' was test tones so I will stand corrected while you jam out to a steady 40hz for your commute.

Not sure how you expect this to work. This amplifier can pull close to 500 amps. Your stock alternator provides less than 200 amps for the ENTIRE car's electrical system. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the car here at all.

Well I love music and bass. but I don't have to worry about disturbing neighbors since I can't turn it up with stalling.

It's not really a lack of understanding you but rather you not completely understanding electrical theory or law. What you're trying to achieve is not possible with the vehicle in it's current state- a hungry, non regulated amp is going to drain every bit it can from the vehicle trying to perform leaving you with 2 options- a regulated amp and take what the vehicle will let you or beef up the vehicles ability substantially (quite costly) to allow the amp to 'take' what it needs.
