Really need some HELP - Radiator install problems (If you've installed one, plz LOOK)
I really need help. Super frustrated with the car - I installed a new radiator (after attempting to just replace the upper radiator hose that was cracked, I ended up snapping the neck off of the top/right part of the radiator). Anyways, Got everything in and put back together and started to fill up with antifreeze, when I noticed it running right out of the bottom of the car..I looked and noticed (the attached pics show) the exact location of the leak (connection point of the passenger side hose, with metal connector clip. It wasn't sealing at all. . even after it was fully on and the clip pushed into place. This IS WHERE I'D LOVE YOUR INPUT OR TIPS. I found an 0-ring gasket in the box, but it doesn't allow the connection to work at all when it's inserted.
The radiator is new. I checked the old radiator and the connection type is the exact same as the new one, so I'm doing something wrong here... HELP! (let me know if the pictures don't make any sense, but I disconnected the two pipes to show which one I'm talking about in the photos): Last edited by TurboMeTroy; 05-19-2019 at 10:12 PM.. |

Look at the lower radiator hose closely, the female fitting should already have an o-ring in the fitting. There is a temperature sensor in the lower hose connector, do you have the new sensor seated in the hose?

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

Why is it so frickin complicated to post pics here. Infuriating...
Anyways, the radiator side fitting i dont think had an o-ring in it OR around it. To be clear, This is the end that the bigger fitting (with metal clip) goes around. When it is connected and the clip is slid into place, you can still basically wiggle it around and it does not feel secure. I really wish I could get the pics to post... |

Is it this hose? https://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/tec...mall/pic05.jpg
Here is a link to a full radiator replacement procedure https://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/tec...eplacement.htm Like Efthreeoh already said, the hose coupling should already have an O-ring in it. Remove the hose and make sure that the o-ring is in the groove and not damaged. I just replaced the radiator a week ago and did not have an issue like you are having. Good luck and post back if you found the issue. |

Look at picture 2 in the ECS link and you can see the o-ring deep inside. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...r/17127531581/ You can see it even better in pic 2 of this link https://www.ecstuning.com/b-gates-pa...127531581~gat/ Lubricate the o-ring with fresh coolant and it should slip right onto the radiator nipple. |
