Can I change spoilers?
I bought my e92 used err... "preowned", and it came with a factory spoiler (I believe) that I thought looked pretty decent at the time. Well, ever since finding this forum, I have found more attractive spoilers I'd like.
My question is, once a spoiler is installed on a particular car, is it there permanently? I remembered I had installed a lip spoiler on a previous car, and holes had to be punctured which pretty much meant it was on there for good. Is it the same deal here? If so, I am looking at just getting a CSL trunk... or bootlid... or whatever it's called ![]() |

No, it's raised (I hate to use the term "wing"). It's off the trunk about an inch and is about 5 inches wide front to back. It's not straight from left to right as it curves with the rear end a bit. I thought it was an option as I've seen a couple other 3's with this, but I cannot find pics of them now for the life of me.
If I knew a lip was available at the time I got it, I would have gotten that instead. Yes, I was looking at the Vorsteiner one! |

From the look of it I would say that they used Betalink to mount the spoiler on there. That's going to be a major pain to remove. There's not much contact surface for them to use 3M to attach it so I'm sure they either used Betalink or drilled it on there. Let us know if you need a quote on the Vorsteiner bootlid. I think we have one left in stock (no need to wait 4 weeks). ![]() |
