TIP - Lots of brake dust...

I've noticed on BMW's driving around. When my new car comes in, I will Zaino the rims. I did this to my current car and it keeps alot of the brake dust and road grime off the rims and what remains comes off very easy with a wash. Try it!

I know its very premature, but when your cars go out of warranty and you have to pay for your own brakes, make sure to get Axxis brand brakes. I just put a set on my E46 and the difference in brake dust is night and day, its really amazing, these things just have no dust at all, whereas the BMW brakes set dust off after 1 day of driving

Guys within one day and 100 miles of driving all my wheels are simply covered in brake dust. I am hoping that it is more severe since everything is brand new still.

Do I just wash this stuff off with a hose or what? Any problems in doing that?

Hose works great, but may take SOME rubbing. Adding a coat of some kind of wax over the rims will help a lot, since the rims are clear coated.
I saw at the local store that they are making some new types of pads that are ceramic or something like that. Not only better for heat dissapation, but also no black on your wheels. Course if you anodized your rims black, . . . .

Poor boys wheel wax, and also Wheel Max wax works really well. Crazy tons of people swear by it.

I think I'd take the pads that grab the best and clean the wheels more often. A softer pad will leave less brake dust but you will increase your stopping distance in a quick stop situation.

I have a set if Porterfield R4S high performance brake pads on my current car that actually dust less than the stock pads that came with my car. The R4S pads have great *bite* too. They run about $230/set.
