Do you have a video clip of the knocking sound?

I get a metallic "ting" every time it engages going from a stop or reverse. I've been told that it is normal.

neilvan, unfortunately that noise IS normal. Many people have reported it as a thunk on pretty much every LSD brand, including my own ride (MFactory). I was told that it has to do with the lash. Not sure I buy that if the lash is set properly, but it is what it is. As with SMFW induced chatter, some have said race car.

Msport, you'll have to send in your pumpkin for the repair. The total turn around from the time you pull it out until it is reinstalled could be a couple of weeks, plus. I have to wonder if you have the issue where the ring bolts have sheared, or are in the process of shearing. Do not risk further damage by driving it other than to a shop for removal. You'll need gear oil and might consider changing the bushings if you hadn't already done so.
