SE drop in panel filter or BMS dual cones???
I can't decide which option would be best to work with a SSTT. Any feedback would be appreciated

Dual cones are much louder, and if you get them, it is more easy for you to install/uninstall your SSTT since you will be taking out the stock airbox!

True, but most likely you are taking out the SSTT for a dealer visit, in which case you are probably putting the stock airbox back in. It would be much easier to change a panel filter in the stock airbox rather than change out dual cones.

there was a comparison on the drop in filters, and none of them out performed the stock...
As for the Dual Cones, they're more for the aural pleasures than the actual gains unless you're tuned past 350HP (AFAIK) - or if you have a heat shield...then you can see some decent gains... I just reverted to stock from the Dual Cones because I might be taking a trip to the dealer soon |

So I guess I am better off just leaving the air filter alone and just run the SSTT. I Just saved between $80-$130

On a dyno, but do we really know this in real world conditions?
I just bring this up because I really think that the hot air from the engine is going to hurt performance.

Hmm you think air intakes will affect our warranty?? I wasn't really thinking about changing it back to stock when taking it in for maintenance. (But of course I'll take out the SSTT)

I have the Helene drop-in (will get a Dinan or BMW Performance CAI when available). A little more throttle response and you can hear the turbos spool more. Good retunr on investment and very easy to change out in my opinion.

i think the dyno proves that there is no loss of performance from heatsoak, but there is a possibility for gains under driving, as opposed to dyno, conditions. could check real quick with like an escort g-timer that tells you the acceleration g-forces in each gear.
