Patience! we need to watch it roll over uneven pavement @ 7mph a thousand more times, that could take another 10-12 more years before it's ready.

I can just see it... every 10 miles some other driver will pull up along side you frantically pointing at your tires like something is wrong.

Last time I checked, rubber is heavier than air. It looks like the rubber support structure takes up about 80% of the tire's air space. They'll add some serious unsprung weight.

Hopefully it wont be heavier than current tires.

It would be so nice to never have to see my TPMS light every time the seasons change.

Some military vehicule have been using a similar technology since the 60s already.

In term of weight, you exchange the sidewall for these inner ribs. Looks like the ribs are going to be heavier, but maybe not that much more so given that the sidewall must be steel-belt reinforced to endure the abuse of lateral flexing in corners.

Along the lines I was thinking too, although I was closer to 800 mmHg.

Seriously though, I wonder how these would react to turning and cornering forces, the shoulder seems so small. I would imagine that the side of the tire might end up folding onto itself and collapsing with hard cornering/turning forces.

Do you think the video is any indication that these are meant for Chevy Bolts doing 7mph through wide corners.

Interesting development in the tyre space - have seen something similar a few years ago for construction/farming use, but this is quite significant I think for cars if it comes to being.

Last time I checked, rubber is heavier than air. It looks like the rubber support structure takes up about 80% of the tire's air space. They'll add some serious unsprung weight. __________________ A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."
