Over 16 TONS of Cocaine Seized Worth $1B in Philly!
WHOA........... You know MANY folks are going to pay (in more ways than one) for such a bust/loss to take place.

"This amount of cocaine could kill millions — MILLIONS — of people."
15,000 keys, divided by MILLIONS of people, equals how much each? I can't do that -SNIFFFFF - math right now. |

That is crazy - that is enough to actually have a notable impact on supply. Good to see it.
On a side note, however, it makes me mad when I see law enforcement officials make these insane claims on costs. They try to maximize the totals by assuming it all is sold in the smallest quantity units, such as grams, where the cost is highest. This is never going to happen, most of that will be sold in bulk at about $25,000 to $40,000 per key. This bust was still huge, but value should realistically be around $45 to $60 million, not a billion dollars, that is just chest puffing nonsense.

That's assuming that 100% of the consumers buy at that level, which they don't. Many users will buy by the oz or 8th of an oz. Some heavy users might buy by the key, especially if well off. These folks have no intent to distribute. It is for personal consumption or for friends, parties, etc. The total market of those purchasing at the per gram level is pretty small.

I can assure you the second mate and crew member that are in custody are damn glad to be in custody at the moment. I imagine this will change as soon as they are introduced to gen-pop. Their asses won't be worth a squirt of piss as soon as the proprietor of said containers finds out what cell block they are in.
