While washing my '06 325i sedan a few days ago, i noticed my parents had left whiteish fingerprints on the interior vinyl panels due to their sunscreen
so i tried cleaning them with a moist cloth. however, the fingerprints did not go away. this is the same with scuffmarks on the bottom panels of all the doors
how do i get rid of them?

I've always used a cleaner/dressing that leaves a "flat" finish. Mequiars has this in the form of wipes .......

FMinus is the local detailer within the forum; might want to hit him up with this.

thanks mnky, i'm guesing you're talking about the quik detailer wipes? i also heard about meguiars all purpose cleaner, which one would be better?

For interior, I use both:
Plexus

Hard to beat either one of these IMHO. The finish is matte and no oil residue behind. As far as cleaning I'll try rubbing alcohol first since both of these has alcohol you may able to clean and treat in one shot.

I use the "quick detailer" as they're easily found in most auto parts stores. The products that HPIA4v2 mentioned aren't as accessible!

If you decided to order online then his recommendations would be GREAT!

dont go with the meguiars stuff, it will make it shiny and greasy. get a vinyl or leather cleaner and 1Z cockpit or 303 protectant

First I'd try some soap and water used sparingly. The sunscreen is greasy and needs to be cleaned off first. You'll need something to cut through the grease. Dressings or cleaner/dressing combinations may not do the job as well as regular soap and water. Once clean, proceed with your favourite dressing.

I've used diluted woolite and water (6:1 ratio) and also Meguire's quick interior detailer for the vinyl interior

Magic Erasers are great for scuffs on hard plastic. Don't scrub too hard on vinyl or they'll leave a matte spot.

Yeah a little bit of blue dawn mixed with warm water. If it's strong enough to remove caked on grease from dishes, it should be able to handle this.
