Was it on a local street? Were you alone? I think you need a lawyer. If your car is registered under someone else's name you could be in the clear.

Nice! It was on Fios TV today that two cars were impounded but they mentioned the reform that went "into effect in 2017" but I don't believe it actually did since there were no more details. Happy for you.

Yeah I was surprised too, I didn't even know about the law until this happened.. anyways, on the bright side, at least now I can put the new steering wheel and catch can in.
