Hood vents e9x - rear inlets from Vette C7
1 - get some rear air inlets from Corvette C7 (lot of guys replace them with modded/carbon parts)... Ebay?
2 - do careful measurements, try to place it up front as possible (otherwise it will hit the expansion tank and the servo tank on the other side), you have to cut a small portion of the supporting beam of the hood, no big deal (maybe an inch or so, perfectly strong after the mod)... 3 - cover the hood with masking tape to protect the paint... 4 - draw the footprint... 5 - cover the engine room with old cloth, raise the hood a bit to have a clearance for the blade... 6 - drill pilot holes, start with a small, rather "inside" of the shape to be safe... 7 - start cutting with the reciprocal saw... 8 - try fit, fill out the perfect shape, smooth edges, try fit until happy 9 - paint the edges, apply rubber/glue for wind-shields to fill the gaps/secure the vents... 10 - use underside fixing points of the vents to further be on the safe side and not to risk to see it become airborne while speeding up on the highway a couple of hours/weeks later... 11 - sit back, relax and enjoy a beer with your wondering wife saying "do we really need these holes in our hood?"

It definitely improves aerodynamics (lowers the drag allowing cooling air to pass through with less resistance and doesn't force it to go under the car where it normally goes after all the coolers/engine/trans)...
Underhood temps should drop obviously, by how much we can just guess since I haven't measured them before this mod. IAT could be lower if you run open airbox/filter type intake.
