Tint Dilemma

Hi,

I'm thinking about getting Huper Optik 40% tints, but I was quoted $500 to have it installed!

My question is, has anyone ever had such an expensive tint and had to have it removed because of a tint violation? I think my heart will break if I was forced to remove a $500 tint.

Please let me know your thoughts.

$500 is a bit much... Where in Cali are you? I know of a great tint shop, but it's out my way....

for $500 they better give you alot more then just window tints!

huper optik is about 450 in nyc.

thankfully our tint tickets are not fixit, just pay and go.
unfortunately they will write you for both front windows, so thats 150 fine per incident.

They better have some gold pieces laced in the tint.

Remove it laws suck. If you get a ticket, do you have to actually show the car to an officer or can you just take a picture?

I have received 7 tint tickets to date in VA. I just take the officer a picture of my car before the tint was done on it (no tint on my Bimmer yet btw) and usually they are nice enough to just drop it.

usually they will charge you less to put them on again if you get a ticket
ask your shop
as long as you remove/reapply with them

Why would you have to remove it?

Isn't the law 35% in Cali?

(Now if you were in Chicago like me I'd say go buy some cheap 50%)

Law is no more than 70% in the front windows, anything else u want on rear windows and back windshield. No tint is legal on front windshield in CA

Go Formula one pinnacle ceramic, I just had it done for $300 today, me and 2 other friends went in and bargained, normally 360. I went with 15% all around (58% heat rejection). sorry for the crappy quality, cellphone pic, its also cloudy out so it looks darker, I was originally going to go with 35% but it just didnt look dark enough for me at certain angles (see linked post)

I don't like the blue color in the HO, F1 ftw

250 and no more. Tinting not peformance gain. 500 for performance, yes. Tint, no!

My tint is 20% and I paid less than $200. Why is it so expansive????

Your tint might turn purple over time, cheap tints tend to do that, ceramics reject about twice as much heat and will not interfere with electronics. www.formulaone.com

I paid about $200 (that was AT cost tho) for my ceramic tints.

I had been quoted $250 for a darker huper optic, but I stuck with my 50% tints.

yea, b careful. tint laws vary f/ state to state. find out what is the legal limit.
remember the darker the tint the lower the number. such as limo tint on the back windows is about 3 to 5%.

Your post should be called "Money Dilemma" not "Tint Dilemma"

You can get lesser quality ceramic tints for $150-175 range in LA area. They look and work as well. With lower cost you can accomplish two things. First, if you have to remove it for a ticket, you can put it back on and still ditch out less than $400 overall. Second, you can replace the original one after a coupe of years when it gets old and scratchy (and still cost you less than $400).

PM me if you want a recommendation. A know a mobile tint guy in LA/ SF Valley area that can do this for you for that price range.

Paid 300 for all windows and windshield.

20% sides and 50% windshield

ceramic too. This was all done by the biggest tint shop in the area. The windshield was an extra $100
