Can you code out CA specific engine codes?
My car is originally from CA. I love in Idaho. I had a code recently come up, P2570, Environmental Air Catalyst Sensor. Idaho is not a SULEV state so I do not require this. To remove this check engine code I would have to buy a new radiator and sensor. I am annoyed with the thought of even doing this because why create waste for something that works fine.
Is there a way to remove CA specific stuff from the programming? Also if I did this would my car think I don't have this radiator and sensor therefore turning off this check engine light code?

If you have an Sulev car it has specific hardware and specific
software to run as an Sulev . Even the Engine has different major components that make the compression rate lower . There is nothing practical you can do to change that . By the way sulev cars were not a CA requirement. |

There is an aftermarket company that makes a high quality Sulev radiators for N51 engines. Probably the coating inside your radiator is no good and the sensor cannot read properly. You will have to buy a new aftermarket radiator and swap your old sensor or buy a new OEM radiator. They don't sell sensors separately.

SULEV warranty on emission components is 150K miles/15 years. Just take it to a dealer.
And insist because many dealers do not understand the SULEV warranty. A 2009 328i with N51 engine originally sold in CA is covered by BMW under the SULEV warrenty regardless of its current registration. |
