car wash shampoo showdown
alright im looking for a good car wash shampoo.
after some research, i found: CQ stud II(cheapest, many studs, wont remove wax and seleants) CQ wash and wax(great for already waxed cars, doesn't contain any surfactants that will strip protection from paint) CQ syntehtic wax/gloss enhancer(most expensive, says it wont strip polymer, wax, seleants) Duragloss 901(wont remove wax, highly recommeneded) anyone know which one of these works great? never used any. FWIW, i looking for a cleaner and maintainter, no looking to strip protection, just to keep my car clean. do any of these actually add protection of any kind? |

The good thing about Duragloss is that it can be had OTC. But i think for maintenance washes, im gonna order a gallon of Maxisuds and see how it is.

DG 901 FTW. I use it for maintenance washes on my car. It is cheap, cleans well, lots of suds, and good lubricity. Found locally as well. Duragloss is underrated in my opinion.

I was thinking 16oz sizes. I understand your perspective. Most people don't detail/wash any cars but their own. A gallon of soap would last me too long as I like to try different product lines. Maxi-suds is a bargain at $12 for a gallon pre tax/ship.

i used duragloss back in the day. I liked it.
I used PB Super Slick and Suds or whatever its called for about 2-3 years. Now I use CG MaxiSuds II - similar to PB's but it feels foamier (is that a word?) and i feel it rinses cleaner. I may be imagining this just because i like trying new things. I use CG CWG before details, per the advice of FMINUS. Whether it does anything special is beyond me. Supposedly it strips off old wax. Whether this is an advantage I dont know - clay/polish does this anyway. |

gold class is also a good OTC soap. i used to use it a lot.
like i have said before: CG Maxi suds- OK lubricity, but nothing out of this world. makes a lot of suds. cheap 901- GREAT lubricity. makes a lot of suds. decent price (this one i feel is the best when it comes to slickness and lubrication) |

The FinishKare wash is a great wash as well. Its not the most bubbly and sudsy soap out there, but it's so lubricated it feels like its oily almost. It doesn't strip protection at all, has antistatic properties that actually work somewhat and makes a great clay lubricant when mixed with water in a spray bottle. Cons, its too expensive for the amount you get.
Megs Gold is a good OTC wash. Costco USED to have a gallon for 6.99 back in the day, but now they carry the ICE stuff (which is OK). Based on what CG has said themselves, the CWG will strip protection. They told me it could be used as a regular wash, but you must be VERY careful as to how much you use.
