Mayflower tire changer machine

Does anyone have one of these machines? They are all over eBay, YouTube, etc.

I haven't, however, heard a lot of feedback on how well these works with lower profile tires like we have. It seems to be more common with the farm/truck/trailer community than the sports car enthusiast community.

I know low profile tires are more difficult to mount. Tire shops charge more to do the job "because it requires more specialized equipment". But I'm curious to know, with my DIY patience, if a regular machine like Mayflower could mount, say, 255/35/18.

Seems like the machine and balance combo would pay back after less than 10 sets of tire changes, based on current Seattle rates for mount and balance. Plus free unlimited re-balancing. Thoughts?

~$1500 for a changer AND a balancer?! That's awesome!!

Just saw some YouTube reviews...seems like a solid combo. I'd be more inclined to pick this up if our cars weren't so finicky in regards to balancing. Still seems like a good deal though

I'm reporting back with good news thus far!
I've taken delivery this morning of the 960/680 combo. I've already unloaded, unpackaged, assembled, powered up, and ran the machines. So far they are great! Very good build quality. No stripped bolts and no machining defects that I could find. Definitively better steel than the harbor freight heavy steel machines, like the engine hoist and hydraulic press.

I've already mounted and dismounted a practice wheel over and over, and then a 225/45/17 WS80 on my stock rims. The machine makes it so easy, especially with the helper arm (and my dad).

I haven't yet tried RFT or 18", but I will soon and report back. If you have the garage space, I highly recommend.

Helper arm helps a bunch on low profile stuff, and you can get some of those wedges to keep the tire down off the rim as you turn it on the machine.

Get some of the tire patch/plugs for tire repair also. You'll need those, a roller, abrasive wheel, and glue, and then you can do repairs. I've got the Mayflower setup as well..works great for a home garage.
