Left rear inside tail light E90

I have a 2006 330i E90 with 171,000 miles. My current issue is with left tail light trunk side. I've started to experience the bulb indicator icon on the dash a few months ago. Took it to a tech and he couldn't find anything. But he did reset the computer module. The fault came back so I replaced the bulb and socket. Now the fault is intermittent. The lights work sometimes. I noticed when it works it goes out when I raise the trunk lid and comes back on when it is lowered. Anyone experience something like this before?

Same light on my 2008 E92 stopped working, LEDs were dead. I took the light apart, water damage. I have no idea how this happened but I still need to replace it. Used on ebay is around $80.
