Motiv flex fuel
If someone could please help me since Motiv can't return messages or answer their phone.
https://www.motivmotorsport.com/prod...el-for-mhd-bmw I was looking to order the flex fuel for MHD. They have it listed for $175. It says "Included with the MOTIV Flex Fuel Box is a PNP harness to connect to the DME, Flex Fuel Box, and Ethanol Content Sensor." This appears to have everything covered outside of having to purchase the MHD side to this as well. Then right below that on their website it has other packages listed as well under the question, "What is needed to run flex fuel on the N54 through MHD?" All of these packages cost the same or more. So which package is the one and done? |

If you run a static tune i.e. MHD E25 map, then just calculate it accordingly. **You still need an upgraded Low Pressure Fuel Pump if you are trying to run anything above an E30 mix** |

Sure, but again if you don't have an upgraded LPFP, we are talking running up to E30 E40 if lucky, max. Let's say ethanol content is flat, running e25 with 91 octane, that's about 3.5-4 gallons of e85 on a 16 gallon tank. Save your money of this and the sensor which appears to be over $4-500 'total' and get an upgraded LPFP first.

You need the ethanol content sensor and MOTIV Flex Fuel if you want to run a flex fuel tune, which measures how much ethanol is in the fuel line and automatically adjusts the tune.

If I order the motiv flex fuel for Mhd N54 ($175.00) Which says it comes with a PNP harness, Flex Fuel Box and Ethanol Content Sensor. That is all I need? Or If I scroll down and get the Ethanol Content Sensor +Engine Bay Short Line Kit for ($220.00), does that come with the PNP harness and Flex Fuel Box as well? Is this additional $45 just adding the short line kit for installation convenience? Three days now I've been trying to contact Motive with no response from them... It's honestly not giving me a warm fuzzy that if I do buy something from them that they will be any help if there is a problem... |

ok, the $175 Flex Fuel module is just the module. It does NOT come with the ethanol sensor or anything else. It is telling you it comes with the PNP harness to CONNECT it to the ethanol sensor and your DME.
So you need: 1: $175 flex fuel box/module 2: $220 Ethanol sensor and engine bay fuel line kit: https://www.motivmotorsport.com/prod...=5854683398173 - I'd get the full line kit IMO 3: $150(?) MHD flex fuel module in the MHD App Pricing is as follows; Motiv flex fuel box(w/ PNP harness) is $175 alone. Ethanol sensor about $100+ alone , fuel lines/fittings $100+ Last edited by IllSic_Design; 07-25-2019 at 07:31 PM.. |

As I said, you're reading it wrong/they said it in a weird way. It says they include the harness for the ff box to CONNECT to the sensor and dme, doesn't say that the sensor is included also. Believe me, I know, I have their kit. The $175 is for the box(and harness) alone.
Should have been written as "Included with the MOTIV Flex Fuel Box is a PNP harness to connect the Flex Fuel box to the DME and ethanol sensor" or something similar. |

My first reply told you the 3 separate items you need to order/buy. I have MOTIV's flex fuel kit on my car right now, so I'm telling you from first hand experience.
1. Motiv Flex fuel box 2. Ethanol sensor+fuel line kit(I prefer/ran the full length kit, but you can do with just th engine bay fuel line kit if need be) 3. MHD Flex fuel module in their app. Easy as that. |

IllSic_Design nailed it on everything. You will love flex fuel - it seems like a high price, but you're buying a sensor, an eca, and the custom programming to do it, so it's well worth it.
Sadly, in the world of the internet and especially smaller companies that sell car parts and isn't their primary business, response times can be lacking. Forums are your best bet - though I'm not sure how much Motiv or Jyamona frequent this one. Sp00lstreet seems to be where there is a bigger presence, and there is a big Flexfuel thread there that can help with install or any issues. Don't forget that if you are planning to run an OTS map, you will also need the pump gas maps and the ethanol maps IN ADDITION to the Flex fuel module in MHD. Then, flash the pump gas map and it will do the flex fuel stuff. |
