It's a fuel pressure code. Either LPFP or HPFP is dead. Actual BMW codes instead of generic OBDII codes would likely give you some useful information.
If you can't get BMW standard tools set up in your laptop, get some parts out of a wreck for a guess and test. But the best way to trouble shoot is to get the actual BMW codes from the DME. It's not that hard - plenty of threads on getting setup with INPA, WinKFP, NCExpert |

If you bought for $1k and can't get it to run. Might as well part it out if FBO as you say. Hopefully the owner was honest with you. Just take it to an Indy and see what they say.

I am always looking to see if I can figure out myself yes I did buy it for $1,000 they only has a hundred and ten thousand miles it looks like a good clean car LED headlamps the works full bolt-ons exhaust very nice car it's just owner was stuck in a rock and a hard place so he was looking to sell as soon as you can. I am looking to hopefully get some answers here and get it resolved I never worked on a European car before what I've done very many LSX swaps. I have a procharged Corvette and I would like to add the BMW as my family saloon

Update so I was working late last night I till 8 pm like every other day so I had about 30 minutes to work on the car before I it was too late and too dark. So I removed the intake hoses throttle body and I accidently snapped off the clip to the sensor on top of the manifold. Does anyone know which sensor this is??? just want to verify I could not find the crankshaft sensor location can anyone provide me a better picture??? I did check by the top of the starter its just hard to see anything there

The sensor on the manifold is a MAP sensor - Manifold Absolute Pressure (not to be confused with the sensor on the charge pipe, the TMAP sensor - Temperature and Absolute Manifold Pressure. If you just broke the clip it's no big deal. It has a silicone rubber seal which will hold it in.
Why are you replacing the crankshaft sensor? You have fuel pressure code, right? |

Dpaul I will probably end up doing both but I wanted to see if with the crankshaft sensor it would start. When I got it onto the tow truck there was a lot of what seem like fuel coming out of then engine bay. When I checked it back home I could not see where it came from.

You are saying you made a totally random guess that the crank sensor was malfunctioning? There was no rationale for that particular decision? That there was gasoline pouring out of the car and a fuel pressure code and you decided that the crankshaft sensor needed replacement?

Car was not cranking so I went to check the codes again and there was two codes a P0091 code and a P0355 code which came up as the crankshaft sensor. This is why I am replacing it just to get rid of that headache before I tackle the pump

Car was not cranking? You mean the starter was not turning the engine over? That will have nothing whatsoever to do with the crank position sensor.

Thank you for your help D paul so I was able to get to the crankshaft sensor the only reason I changed it because the code was coming up. So today I attempted to start it. Cranked over for about 10 seconds and I started smelling fuel and car stopped cranking. I went out to see if anything happen and saw on the bottom driver side under the headlight a pool of fuel. I will inspect it tomorrow any thoughts???
